Malaysian Women Entrepreneurs Paving the Way

Across Malaysia, women entrepreneurs are reshaping industries and redefining what leadership in business looks like. From fashion labels and lifestyle brands to innovative retail concepts and dessert businesses, these founders are turning ideas into thriving companies that resonate with modern consumers.
As International Women’s Day and Women’s Month spotlight the achievements of women worldwide, Malaysia’s growing community of female founders continues to demonstrate resilience, creativity, and ambition. Their journeys show how vision and determination can turn small ideas into impactful ventures that inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Here are some inspiring Malaysian women entrepreneurs who are paving the way across industries.
Christy Ng, Founder of Christy Ng Shoes

Christy Ng is the founder of one of Malaysia’s most recognisable footwear brands, though her journey into fashion began in an unexpected way. A biotechnology graduate with no formal training in design, she initially worked in the pharmaceutical industry before deciding to pursue her passion for creating stylish yet comfortable shoes.
In 2012, she launched Christy Ng Shoes from her mother’s living room using her personal savings. What began as a small online venture quickly gained attention after she shared her designs on Facebook, attracting thousands of followers within a month. Today, Christy Ng Shoes has expanded beyond Malaysia, reaching customers across Southeast Asia and other international markets while continuing to grow its retail and e-commerce presence.

Lee Hui Jing, Co-Founder of BilaBila Mart

Lee Hui Jing co-founded BilaBila Mart to reinvent the kedai runcit, or Malaysian neighbourhood convenience store, while creating opportunities for local brands to thrive. Launched in 2019 with two business partners, the convenience store chain was designed as a platform where Malaysian small and medium-sized businesses could sell their products without the costly listing fees often required by major retail chains.
The company faced an immediate challenge when its first store opened just days before Malaysia entered its COVID-19 lockdown. Despite the difficult start, Hui Jing and her team adapted quickly, adjusting their strategy and expanding the brand’s offerings to meet changing consumer needs. Today, BilaBila Mart has grown into a rapidly expanding convenience store chain that champions local products while bringing a modern twist to neighbourhood grocery shopping.

Ivor Lim, Co-Founder of HYGR

Ivor Lim co-founded HYGR with Chew Hoi Meng during the COVID-19 pandemic, turning what began as a small side hustle into a fast-growing Malaysian personal care brand. A law graduate by training, Ivor had also built a following as a content creator before venturing into business, producing lifestyle and travel content that resonated with online audiences.
The duo began experimenting with deodorant and lip balm formulas to address their own personal care frustrations. Their products quickly gained traction online, with TikTok playing a key role in building the brand’s early momentum. Today, HYGR sells natural personal care products in hundreds of retail outlets across Malaysia and has grown from a small studio into a semi-detached factory within a few years.

Siti Hajar Mohd Razali, Founder of Suka Dessert

Siti Hajar Mohd Razali, affectionately known as “Auntie Ja” among her followers, turned her love for chocolate and desserts into the thriving brand Suka Dessert. Despite having no formal culinary training, she began experimenting with recipes at home after purchasing a pavlova recipe and baking for friends and colleagues. What began as small orders quickly grew as word spread and demand increased.
Encouraged by the strong response, Siti Hajar eventually left her corporate job and transformed her home-based baking venture into a full-fledged business. Over the years, Suka Dessert expanded from a small home kitchen into a café in Selayang with a growing team and loyal customer base. Known for indulgent chocolate creations such as the Cake in Bowl, Volcano Choc Brownies, Choc Cheese in Cup, and Oval Cookies, the brand has become a favourite among dessert lovers across Malaysia.

Sisters Sabrina Ridzal and Syakira Ridzal launched the Malaysian handbag brand BRIK in 2023. Combining their shared love for fashion, the duo set out to design versatile handbags for everyday wear. Their contrasting styles, bold colours versus softer neutrals, shaped a bag collection that balances practicality with distinctive design.
The brand quickly gained traction through social media and limited product drops, with its glossy Chroma shoulder bags becoming particularly popular among young Malaysian consumers. By blending accessible pricing with a sense of exclusivity and strong online engagement, BRIK has grown into one of the country’s most talked-about emerging handbag labels.
