Here Are the Most Searched Topics and Names in Google This Year

Reigning as the top search engine in the Philippines, Google has released its “Year in Search 2023,” unveiling the top trending searches of Filipinos in various topics from news, sports, personalities, shows, and even farewell—a newly added category of the tech giant this year.
With the government’s mandate of implementing the Sim Registration Act, “Sim Registration” is the most searched news this year, followed by “precinct finder” following the recently concluded Barangay and SK elections.
The heated game of Lakers vs. Warriors got everyone searching, making it the top-searched sport of the year along with the other game of Lakers against the Denver Nuggets.
The Korean fever never ends as K-drama “Duty After School” tops as the most searched series, followed by the well-loved Filipino series “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” while “Oppenheimer” got everyone intrigued as the top-searched movie of the year.
James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” is the most searched under the songs and lyrics, followed by Juan Karlos’ "Ere," while “Blade Ball codes” is the most searched in the games category.
Various celebrities have also been searched this year, including “Ahn Bo-hyun,” the top-searched male personality, followed by rising Japanese actor “Mackenyu.” For the female personality, “Katy Louise Sanders” took the top spot, with Filipina actress “Cristine Reyes” getting the second spot.
In a new category called "Farewell,” Google tracks the searches for those who have passed away. Topping the search list is the legendary journalist and news anchor Mike Enriquez, followed by Filipino comedy actor “Joey Paras.”
