While many people prefer the convenience of living near city centers, there is a growing number of individuals who seek a different kind of lifestyle—one that offers both convenience and respite from the frenetic pace of the city.

In the picturesque location of Cainta, a remarkable three-bedroom condo home embodies this desire for the best of both worlds. This exquisite space serves as a weekend getaway for a family of three, allowing them to stay close to the bustling Metro while also immersing themselves in the provincial charm of Rizal.

Originally comprising two tandem two-bedroom units, this weekend home has been transformed into a haven of relaxation and tranquility. Interior designer Jackson Cue carefully considered the owners' request to move away from the minimalist style, opting instead for a more distinctive and inviting aesthetic.

Drawing inspiration from the luxurious villas of Bali, the designer envisioned a darker wood theme, accentuating natural materials to create an ambiance reminiscent of a resort.

The result is a harmonious fusion of resort-inspired interiors and a tropical atmosphere. Every detail has been curated to enhance the purpose of the home—an oasis for weekend retreats. It's a space where the residents can escape the demands of daily life and find solace amidst the soothing surroundings.

Since it was originally a tandem unit, there were two provisions for the kitchen. To maximize the available space, the designer created a secret storage area at the back of the entertainment system. The walk-in storage area can be used to store large items.

One of the owners’ requests is to have a sliding partition between the living and dining/kitchen areas to contain the smell of food when cooking. Opting for a glass partition maintains the openness of the space.

Keeping with the dark wood theme, the dining area features a dining set in dark wood that complements the curtains and lighting pieces. The designer chose an extendable table to enable the owners to entertain guests during get-togethers.

As storage is a must in condo living, the designer maximized the vertical space by installing wall-mounted shelves where pretty dinnerware can be displayed. Additional cabinets were also fitted in to give the owners enough space for their belongings.

To address the compact size of the original kitchen, the designer implemented strategic expansions. The front part was extended to create additional counter space, while the area beside the refrigerator was also enlarged to accommodate more storage cabinets. These minor yet impactful adjustments, as highlighted by Jackson, greatly enhanced the kitchen's functionality.

The owners’ daughter wanted her room to have touches of green and to deliver this, the designer spruced up the wall with accent wallpaper. Despite the size of the room, he was also able to incorporate storage nooks and a study area.

Several improvements were made to enhance the functionality of the common bathroom. An enclosed shower area was installed, providing a dedicated space for showering.

Additionally, the focal wall was adorned with smaller-cut tiles, adding visual interest and creating a captivating centerpiece. To further enhance the ambiance, a funky mirror was chosen, bringing an unexpected touch that infuses the private space with personality and charm.

Hotel-like best describes the spacious master bedroom where the owners can also take in the view of the surroundings. A nature-inspired wallpaper livens up the wall above the bed, which ties in with the home’s overall theme.

At the foot of the bed is a seating area where the couple can enjoy their snacks while watching movies or their favorite series. One of their requests is to have a mini bar in their room and the designer delivered by allotting space for it together with a mini refrigerator.

The en-suite bathroom mirrors the aesthetic of the common bathroom, featuring stylish wood-like tiles that adorn the walls. In a quest for elevated elegance, the designer thoughtfully incorporated a sleek glass shower enclosure into the space.

From the Designer:

“It’s very important to focus on space planning to maximize a limited space. [Homeowners] can create multiple-use cabinet systems wherein you can integrate different functions into one system. It’s also best to invest in custom-made cabinetry to make sure it will fit the space while allowing you to maximize your storage solutions.”
