As couples embark on the thrilling journey of moving into their first home together, the excitement lies in transforming the space into a haven where their future memories will unfold.
But what happens when their style preferences differ? Who gets the final say? In this condo unit skillfully designed by interior designer Dianne Versoza of VRSO Interiors, you'll discover the art of finding a harmonious balance in design.
The owners, newlyweds with a shared love for art, have contrasting tastes: one favors the industrial aesthetic, the other is drawn to Scandinavian design. By merging these two styles, Dianne has created a charming urban home brimming with character. Captivating art pieces breathe life into the space, while expertly incorporated storage solutions cater to their practical needs.
"With a vast collection of personal items, the couple prioritized functionality without compromising on aesthetics," shared the designer.
The designer incorporated the owners' request to showcase their collection of artworks in the entryway. The space is defined by vibrant and funky artworks, complemented by a sleek storage piece.
Dining and Kitchen Areas
To fulfill the newlyweds' vision of a clean and neutral space, Dianne opts for neutral-colored walls that serve as ideal backdrops for the artwork. Industrial and Scandinavian elements are seamlessly blended with a refreshing touch of green to create a lively and vibrant ambiance.
A wide mirror in the dining area creates the illusion of a larger space, while the furniture and lighting pieces exude an industrial vibe.
Adjacent to the dining space, the pristine kitchen features a breakfast bar, perfect for quick meals and hosting get-togethers.
The spacious cooking area boasts efficient countertops and a luxurious Scandinavian appeal in its chosen finishes. Smart storage nooks keep glassware and essentials easily accessible.
The living area offers a cozy retreat with an inviting sofa and an airy ambiance.
The walls come alive with additional works of art, while metal shelves proudly display the owners' collections.
Meanwhile, at night, colorful lights set a moody atmosphere for cherished movie nights.
Cleverly placed shelves maximize vertical space, providing convenient storage solutions. In this unit, an extra shelf in the kitchen holds preferred drinks, complementing the bar area.
With two bathrooms in the unit, the common toilet and bath feature neatly installed white and green subway tiles. The enclosed shower area and a lavatory sink with a cabinet ensure a clutter-free environment.
The couple's expansive bedroom incorporates closets within the space. Flanking the window seat, two open closets add functionality and style.
Potted plants and artwork adorn one corner, instantly transforming this into a cozy nook.
The side tables, personalized with a toy and a potted plant, provide a charming touch. Hanging lights save space and keep essentials within reach.
A long ledge at the foot of the bed serves as a work nook and vanity area, maximizing every corner.
Niches prove useful for storing and showcasing accessories like sunglasses, adding a touch of beauty to the space.
The master bathroom is best described as sleek and inviting, boasting slim-cut subway tiles and luxurious finishes. The addition of warm lighting and a potted plant further softens the overall aesthetic.
His-and-hers sinks complete the private space, providing ample room for the owners to carry out their daily routines.
From the Designer:
“To maximize urban living spaces, homeowners should prioritize the layout, creating open and unobstructed areas. Ample storage solutions are essential for organization and functionality, tailored to their unique style and preferences.”
