Never Strangers' Invite-Only May Parties Bring Singles Back IRL

Snap Insta to 642190610 17924161431236211 8271622398038754301 nPhoto by This is Never Strangers/Instagram

Never Strangers is taking their offline-first social gathering across Asia this May 2026, bringing its invite-only house party for singles to seven cities.

The May lineup kicked off in Hong Kong last May 2, but it's set to be followed by events in Manila, Philippines and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam — both on May 9. Their Bangkok, Thailand stop is on May 14, but another event in Bangkok is happening on May 21 — a sapphic edition. Interested singles in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia can mark their calendars for May 16, while those in Singapore have theirs on May 21. Lastly, Ho Chi Minh's LGBTQ edition is set for May 30 to round out the month.

"A house party for singles," Never Strangers promises a curated chaos that puts together people who are tired of the same old dating apps and want to try something different. As an invite-only community, however, they use a mix of human vetting and technology to form the guest list for their experiences, which can range from social mixers to sports and travel activities.

Their philosophy is straightforward: "We all start as strangers."

Alongside the reveal of their May 2026 lineup, they also teased "Never Strangers 2.0." Not a lot of details have been revealed as of writing, but with the platform now active in seven cities in Asia, people can expect exciting things ahead.

Attendance, however, is not a free-for-all. They explained that every attendee is personally reviewed before being invited, with the goal of ensuring safety, genuine intentions, and the right crowd. Guests must sign up for an account through the Never Strangers website.

Events are ticketed, but prices may vary. Gatherings typically range from 40 to 100 guests, depending on the venue. While the age demographic also varies by event. Minimum age to attend is 21 years old.

Never Strangers also notes that while their algorithm tries to match all participants, a match is not guaranteed. Compatibility, attendance numbers, and no-shows may affect distribution. Attendees who do not receive a match, excluding friend matches, may be invited to a future event on a complimentary basis.

If you miss the good old days of meeting strangers through mutual friends, at a bar, in the park, or simply by accident, Never Strangers could just be the next best thing. Not exactly 100% destiny, but at least it's better than another chat in a dating app asking for your height or favorite color.

For more details and information, follow This is Never Strangers on Instagram. To sign up for an account, visit their website here.

Simple Plan Brings the 'Bigger Than You Think' Tour to Southeast Asia

Simple PlanPhoto by Simple Plan/Instagram

Simple Plan is heading back to Southeast Asia — and they aren't arriving quietly!

The Canadian pop-punk band dropped the Southeast Asia leg dates of their "Bigger Than You Think!" tour, with stops in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, and Surabaya in November 2026, followed by a Hong Kong show in December 2026.

Featuring special guest LØLØ, the tour is part of the band’s ongoing 25th anniversary celebration.

The tour kicks off on Nov. 21, 2026 at Idea Live Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before heading to Singapore Indoor Stadium on Nov. 22, 2026. After that is a stop in Manila, Philippines, where Simple Plan will perform at Araneta Coliseum on Nov. 25, 2026. Indonesian fans are lucky, with two stops: Tennis Indoor Senayan in Jakarta on Nov. 27, 2026 and Jatim Expo in Surabaya on Nov. 28, 2026. The Southeast Asia leg ends on Dec. 1, 2026 at AXA Wonderland in Hong Kong.

Tickets and VIP upgrades will be available through the band's official website. Presale for Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, and Surabaya begins at 11 AM (SGT) on May 4, followed by a general sale at 11 AM (SGT) on May 5. Hong Kong fans get a separate ticketing schedule, with presale starting at 10 AM (HKT) on May 11, and the general sale at 10 AM (HKT) on May 13.

To receive the presale code for early access, fans are encouraged to join the Simple Plan HQ broadcast channel.

"It's been three years since our last visit in 2023," the band said in their announcement, adding that they're grateful to return to a part of the world that has been a long-time supporter of Simple Plan.

Formed in Montreal in 1999, Simple Plan currently consists of Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, Jeff Stinco, and Sébastien Lefebvre. The group rose to fame in the early 2000s, becoming one of the most recognizable bands in the pop-punk scene.

Their debut album, "No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls," was released in 2002 and featured one of their biggest hits, "Perfect." Simple Plan's follow-up, "Still Not Getting Any..." was launched in 2004, featuring fan favorites such as "Welcome to My Life," "Shut Up!," "Untitled (How Could This Happen to Me?)" and "Crazy."

Later hits such as "Jet Lag," featuring Natasha Bedingfield, "Astronaut," and "Summer Paradise" helped extend the band's appeal beyond the era of MySpace and Friendster. The upcoming shows are expected to lean into the band's anniversary milestone, hopefully giving OG pop-punk fans a chance to revisit the songs that they sang (screamed) during their childhood and teenage years.
