Hey, anime and manga fans! Get your straw hats ready as an anime remake of Eiichiro Oda’s hit shounen series, “One Piece,” is currently in production!
The big news was announced last Sunday, Dec. 17, at Jump Festa 2024. In a Twitter post, Netflix also released a video announcing the remake of the series.
“THE ONE PIECE” will be produced by WIT Studio, which is known for their works on popular anime series “SPY x FAMILY” and the three seasons of “Attack on Titan.” The production committee is made up of representatives from Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co.
The committee hopes to present viewers with a new yet familiar experience by reimagining Luffy's adventures using cutting-edge visual technology.
The “One Piece” manga began its legendary run in July 1997. It was then adapted into an anime in 1999 and is still going strong, now with over 1,000 episodes and 21 seasons. Earlier this year, a live-action remake has also been produced and released by Netflix.
The new adaptation will feature a condensed episode count and updated animation starting from the iconic East Blue saga. The said remake will be exclusively released and streamed exclusively on Netflix.
