Need a Drink? Grab Your Favourite Cocktails at These Modern Speakeasy Bars in Bangkok

Brimming with beautiful beaches and exotic foods, Bangkok is also a famous destination for those who enjoy drinking and bar hopping. The nightlife scene in the city is dazzled by a wide array of entertainment clubs, pubs, and speakeasy bars, as well as cabaret shows and stage performances.
Since we’re no longer in the Prohibition Era, most alcoholic beverages can now be purchased legally. However, if you would rather drink in a swanky establishment that exudes an air of mystery, then chilling out in a speakeasy bar is the best place to be.
From high-profile to underground bars and everything in between, here are some of the best speakeasy bars that offer exclusive cocktails and food menu items in Bangkok.
The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar
The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar should not be missed when searching for a high-profile destination to drink while enjoying the panoramic views of the Bangkok skyline.
This speakeasy bar in Bangkok can be found on the 24th and 25th floors of Hotel Muse Bangkok, serving delectable cuisine and innovative concoctions.
In keeping with the spirit of the American Prohibition Era, the bar released its new collection of mixed drinks dubbed as The Speakeasy Sips. The Girl with the Curls is dedicated to Gladys Louise Smith, inspired by her famous role as Mary Pickford. The drink is made up of Bulleit bourbon, sweet maraschino liqueur-infused with chamomile tea, pineapple honey shrub, homemade grenadine, and a touch of lemon.
Its latest collection also includes The Six Revive, which is an iconic interpretation of the Corpse Reviver cocktail in honour of the famous English bartender Harry Craddock. The cocktail recipe includes vermouth, gin, Cointreau-infused coffee beans and aromatics of citrus and rose.
The bar on the 24th floor is open daily from 6 PM to 12 AM, while the 25th floor operates every Thursday to Saturday only from 6 PM to 12 AM.

Nestled on the top floor of the Rosewood hotel, Lennon’s is a speakeasy bar in Bangkok known for its 6,000-vinyl collection. The bar allows its patrons to play their favourite classics while offering a nostalgic drinking experience filled with music.
For the drinks, you’ll surely be tempted to try Lennon’s rare whiskies named after some popular songs such as Ricky Martin’s Maria (mix of tequila, spiced apple shrub, lemon, and Mancino Bianco), Fly Me To The Moon (whisky-forward Negroni), rare vintage spirits from the 1970s, and more.
Diners can either request a music to the DJ or purchase their favourite soundtrack albums to listen to on repeat in the comfort of their own homes. Everyone is strongly advised to dress appropriately in smart casual attire and closed footwear.

Maggie Choo's
When people think of the nightlife in Bangkok, the first thing that comes to mind is probably Maggie Choo's popular event every Sunday called Gay Night. This speakeasy bar in Bangkok features an ancient Shanghai-style interior that will transport its guests to an underground-cabaret milieu located in the basement level of Novotel Bangkok Silom Road.
The bar’s name came from the Shanghai cabaret owner who moved to Bangkok in 1931 due to the Japanese invasion. She converted an old bank into a nightclub upon discovering an entrance from a 19th century Thai Chinese shoebox restaurant basement that is 10 metres below Silom Road.
Most of its signature cocktails contain Langley’s gin, this includes Huan Yin Nin, Meigui, Shanghai Hustle, Venus, Sukanya, Lady Smith, and Dollar’s Bill’s. Each is priced at THB450.
Maggie Choo’s is open every Tuesday to Sunday from 6 PM to 2 AM.

Abandoned Mansion
Abandoned Mansion is a gangster-themed bar and underground speakeasy in Bangkok. It is a popular hangout spot for those who fancy some Prohibition Era vibes while also listening to live jazz music at night.
The current location of the pub was once a covert rendezvous point in the 1930s for notorious gangsters who escaped from prison. It also served as their gathering place to socialise and conduct illegal business transactions including the distribution of prohibited alcoholic beverages. Later on, those who stayed in the mansion fled or were arrested by the authorities; hence, the name of the bar alludes to this event. The mansion was renovated as a bar on July 7, 2022.
With this, Abandoned Mansion labeled its drinks after infamous “public enemies” including John Dillinger, John Edgar Hoover, G-Man, Melvin Purvis, Al Capone, Baby Face Nelson, and Bonnie and Clyde. For the ladies’ drinks, the bar serves cocktails in unique glasses and named after female criminals such as Ma Barker, Pearl Elliot, Stephanie St. Clair, and Kathryn Kelly.
The bar is open every Tuesday to Sunday from 6 PM to 2 AM.
