Bangkok Takes Up the First Spot on the Best Cities in Asia Pacific
BKK Best City

Asia is home to many beautiful destinations, but one city that stands out the most to tourists is Bangkok. Ranking first on the third Travel + Leisure’s Luxury Awards Asia Pacific, this charming city in Thailand is voted to have the best street food, friendly people, five-star service, and a non-stop 24/7 culture under Asia’s Best Cities category!

From street food to fine dining, Bangkok’s food scene is one of the highlights of the city. Aside from that, the magazine also noted that readers love the pulsing nightlife, the abundance of beautiful resorts and hotels, and the diverse range of shopping options in the area.

Oppositely, a lot of people also love the softer, more spiritual side of the city – with ornate temples and palaces, canals, and artsy culture, the place is just perfect for different personalities.

Aside from Bangkok, three islands in Thailand were a part of the list under the Best Islands in Asia-Pacific region, namely Koh Samui, (1st), Phuket (5th), and Koh Phi Phi (9th). In case you don’t know, the Luxury Awards Asia Pacific is determined through a survey among the readers – so this comes from the feedback of many travelers and tourists.

PSA: A Ride-Hailing App for Electric Boat Taxis Will Be Available in July!
Khlong Boats

Getting around Bangkok is now easier with the latest technology. With just one tap, you can book a car to go wherever you want – except in Khlongs. If you want to explore the beauty of the city, traveling by land is not enough to make the most out of your experience. Luckily, there’s a new app coming out in July that will let you hail electric boat taxis soon!

Developed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the taxi service is designed to connect with Bangkok’s electric rail systems, public bus services, and motorcycle taxi services as reported by the Bangkok Post.

The pilot phase will launch in Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem and service some of its branching canals using two prototype boats. Soon after, they will be expanding to many other khlongs in the city.

The app is made primarily to promote tourism in the city. Passengers will then be able to hail an on-demand boat taxi using an application. Like most ride-hailing apps, the fare will be calculated based on distance.
