The Beat Asia's Up-and-Coming is a series where we feature rising talented artists from the region, giving them a platform to share what they’re passionate about and to promote the music they (and us too!) would love the world to hear. Do you want or know someone who wants to be featured? Email us at editorial@thebeat.asia or slide through our DMs on Facebook or Instagram!

With a name that evokes destruction and catharsis, RAZE makes a fitting entrance with their debut single, “จำนน (Break Me).” Driven by metalcore aggression and undeniable chemistry between its five members, the track makes for a powerful introduction to Bangkok’s newest all-female metal act.

Formed and produced by Ebbie Yananda, guitarist of Midnight Cereal, alongside Thanajed Winaigonpong of Tragedy Of Murder and Headbangkok, RAZE brings together five musicians who, interestingly enough, did not know one another before the band came together.

Each member was discovered separately through social media, with Yananda personally scouting and assembling the lineup: Murlyn (Praew Thongprasert) on clean vocals, Yoko (Bussakorn Amponpelapan) on vocals and screaming, Jenna (Napatsorn Sangkhapong) and Kewlin (Kewlin Thamkhan) on guitars, and Hannah (Kochaporn Chantaranijakorn) on drums.

The band’s debut single explores the darker side of love and relationships, combining raw emotion and heavy sounds with a powerful melodic edge. It’s a bold first statement from a band that has the potential to carve out its own place in Thailand’s metalcore scene. For RAZE, however, the track is only the beginning.

In this latest Up-And-Coming exclusive, The Beat Asia caught up with RAZE to talk about how five strangers became a band, the meaning behind their destructive name, the story behind “จำนน (Break Me),” and what listeners can expect next.

Could you introduce RAZE to our readers and tell us a little about each member?

We are RAZE, an all-female metal band based in Bangkok, Thailand. We were scouted and put together by our producer, Ebbie Yananda. The lineup consists of Murlyn on clean vocals, Yoko on vocals and screaming, Jenna and Kewlin on guitars, and Hannah on drums. Ebbie found all of us separately through social media.

How did the five of you come together to form RAZE, and how would you describe the chemistry among the members?

Our producer, Ebbie Yananda, was the one who tracked down each member and brought us together. At first, we didn't really know each other at all. But because we share the exact same passion and love for music, we clicked instantly, and it’s been so much fun ever since.

What does the name "RAZE" represent? Why did you choose this name for the band?

In Thai, "RAZE" translates directly to concepts of destruction or leveling. We chose it because we want this band to keep leveling up while the music we make stays destructive and heavy.

Did RAZE have a clear vision from the beginning, or did you gradually develop your sound and identity as you made music together?

At first, the band started because our producer really wanted to make metal music, but he didn't want to be the one performing it. Once we started working together, we just fell in love with the direction the band was going. Now, we’re committed to doing our best and pushing toward big goals, wherever they take us.

What brought each of you to metalcore music? What artists influenced each member individually before RAZE was formed?

We get inspired by so many different bands and types of music, so our individual backgrounds are pretty diverse, which makes the sounds we create together feel fun and unpredictable.

What was the first song you played together as RAZE?

Of course, it’s our debut single! Honestly, that’s the only song we have right now. But we are already hard at work on more music.

You officially debuted in June 2026 with "จำนน" (Break Me). Why did you feel it was the right song to introduce RAZE to the world? What is the story behind your debut single, and what did it feel like when it was finally released?

"จำนน" (Break Me) tells the story of a toxic relationship where love becomes a cycle of control, pain, and emotional destruction. The song explores the struggle of knowing you are being used, yet still being unable to let go, capturing that feeling of losing yourself while accepting pain from someone you once trusted. Seeing everyone's feedback has been so exciting, and it makes us even more motivated to do more.

As a newly debuted metalcore band, how do you see RAZE’s place within the Thai metalcore scene?

We are just so happy to see the Thai audience welcoming us and showing excitement for what we’re doing. We can't wait to jump on any metal gig or festival someday!

Are there particular metalcore bands that inspired the sound you wanted to create with RAZE?

Because we draw inspiration from so many different music styles and bands, the sound we create is always a bit random and organic.

What kind of experience do you want people to have when they listen to RAZE?

We just want people to feel the same pure joy and excitement that we feel when we are creating and performing our songs.

How would you describe RAZE beyond the labels "metal," "metalcore," or "all-female"?

Beyond the labels, RAZE is pure fun and excitement — fueled by catharsis, heavy momentum, and raw, unapologetic energy.

Now that RAZE has introduced itself with "Break Me," what comes next? Will there be an EP or a full-length album from RAZE in the near future?

Yes, absolutely! Right now we are working hard on more songs, so please follow us for more updates and info!

Are there any upcoming live shows or performances that audiences can look forward to?

For now, we can’t confirm any live shows just yet, but they will be coming soon. We want to focus on making more songs until we are fully ready to deliver an entire live set!

Listen to RAZE's debut single, “จำนน (Break Me)," as well as their newest release, "ทิ้งไว้กับฉัน (UNFADING)," now available to stream on Spotify. You may also follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates about new releases, upcoming performances, and more.
