Hong Kong Agency PANGU by Kenal Pioneers LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Metaverse

In a significant step towards digital inclusivity, locally based metaverse agency PANGU by Kenal is set to launch one of Asia's first LGBTQ+-themed metaverse experiences. The experience, named PANtopia, is scheduled for an October 2023 debut.

PANGU founder, Kenny Ng, has been reported by Marketing Interactive to have asserted that the agency sees allyship as an ongoing commitment to support marginalized groups and not an initiative confined to just Pride Month. According to Ng, PANtopia will enable the metaverse to be a dynamic tool for nurturing LGBTQ+ allyship, contributing to a more harmonious society.

PANtopia aims to be more than a digital realm, positioning itself as a transformative platform. It will offer individuals, corporations, communities, and NGOs a unique opportunity to utilise the next evolution of Web 3.0 for advocacy and engagement.

PANtopia will incorporate gaming and educational elements, making full use of the metaverse's potential to foster connections and engagement in ways not feasible in the physical world. The initiative will also collaborate with Taiwan Equality Campaign and Taiwan Tongzhi Hotline Association, both instrumental in supporting the LGBTQ+ movement in Taiwan.

Building on the momentum of Metaverse Pride 2022, PANtopia is set to be an accesible platform championing LGBTQ+ inclusion across Asia. The metaverse-to-online-to-offline (M2O2O) concept, scheduled for rollout in October, is expected to propel the pride movement to unprecedented levels.
