Carrie Lam to Shut Down Facebook Account Once Tenure Ends on June 30
In a public post on Tuesday, June 28, Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam said she is deleting her Facebook account after stepping down on Thursday, June 30.
The outgoing Chief Executive of Hong Kong said after five years of service, she is moving out of the Chief Executive’s Office in Admiralty and the Government House in Central.
“The parting is imminent, and everyone feels a little reluctant. But the feast that has been going on for five years has also been running, and my Facebook account, which has posted more than 600 posts, will end on June 30,” Lam said.
In her statement, she confirmed that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be attending the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to motherland on Friday, July 1.
She noted that President Xi’s visit and speech would point out the direction for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
