HKSAR 25th Anniversary Music Video Celebrate Hong Kong’s Return to Motherland
China Media Group, one of the predominant media companies in China, released the official music video for the theme song of the 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)’s return to motherland on Friday, June 24.
The music video celebrated the works and legacies of Hong Kong compatriots including post-‘90s Hong Kong resident Leung On-lee, “Touching China 2021” role model Chen Beier, and Olympic bronze medalist Doo Hoi Kem. Warm images of “lighthouse,” “shore,” and “bridge” were present in the video to depict the kinship between Hong Kong and the mainland.
Composed by Hong Kong producers Keith Chan Siu-kei and Alan Cheung Ka-shing, the theme song "We Will Be Better,” through its brisk melody and charming lyrics, fully displays the spirit of Hong Kong people in standing in solidarity with one another. Chinese characters such as “sea,” “river,” and “bay” were incorporated in the track to highlight the regional characteristics of the Greater Bay Area.
Hong Kong’s “return to motherland” is an annual celebration of the country’s achievements for the past 25 years.
