Toybox to Runway: Malaysian Designers Turn LEGO into Couture

Last October, The LEGO Group unveiled Asia’s first LEGO Botanical Glasshouse at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, dazzling fans with a blooming garden inspired by the 21353 LEGO Ideas: The Botanical Garden set.
In celebration of art, creativity, and craftsmanship, the brand partnered with the Malaysian Official Designers’ Association (MODA) to merge fashion with LEGO play. The result? 23 outstanding ensembles adorned with delicate, brick-built floral embellishments. These designs debuted at the region’s first LEGO Botanicals Fashion Show on Oct. 16, 2025, with celebrity supermodel Amber Chia opening the runway.

The vibrant showcase featured some of Malaysia’s top designers and rising stars, including Arlina Ayou, Ashley, Atelier Che, Atelier Prive, Celest Thoi, Ellie, Fiziwoo, Jimmy Lim, Melinda Looi, Nanalyana, Tangoo, and Variante. Each designer was challenged to interpret the LEGO Botanicals collection, bringing to life unique creations that reflected their own expressions of creativity and self-discovery. Some of them drew inspiration from sets like the 10374 LEGO® Botanicals Bouquet of Pink Roses, 10313 Wildflower Bouquet, and 10348 Japanese Red Maple Bonsai Tree, turning elements like the bonsai structure into sculpture silhouettes and repurposing tiny LEGO pieces into dress detailing.
Some of the standout looks that graced the runway included a striking green gown with a hoop skirt adorned with LEGO flower bricks and paired with a matching floral headdress, as well as a romantic wedding-gown–inspired ensemble featuring yellow LEGO flower brick detailing hand-sewn onto the corset and veil.

The fashion show proved that with enough creativity and imagination, even the smallest LEGO pieces can be transformed into extraordinary works of art.
