Travelling to Malaysia Soon? Here Are the Apps You Should Download

Flight tickets? Check. Hotel bookings? Check. Now that you’ve packed your bags and are ready to go to Malaysia, there’s just one thing left to prepare — the apps that will help you survive during your stay. While some apps are applicable for use in most destinations, there are specific ones that you’ll need to make sure that you can navigate the country easier and better. Here are some of them.

The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), commuter rail, and monorail — there are many ways to get around Malaysia’s capital. It can be confusing and overwhelming to know which line to go, but with the help of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Subway and Kuala Lumpur Metro, all you need is to input which station you’re going. Depending on the operating system of your smartphone, you can download either of the two apps to check for routes, operating hours, estimated travel time, and fares.

Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Subway is only available on Android while Kuala Lumpur Metro is only available on the App Store.

What started as a ride-hailing app is now Southeast Asia’s all-in-one super app where you can book a ride, order food, and pay at select establishments.

Going from one place to another won’t be a problem with Grab as you don’t have to worry about remembering public transport routes, riding the wrong bus, or getting off at the wrong station. If you get hungry in the middle of the night and no nearby restaurants are open, you can also simply open the app and order from there. If you’ve also activated GrabPay, you don’t have to worry about being short on cash.

Download Grab on Google Play and App Store.

For Malaysia, you’ll need WhatsApp to communicate with locals. If you’re visiting a friend or want to contact establishments like restaurants or hotels, you’ll need to download this app to make your travels easier.
