After the announcement that Tesla will establish a headquarters in Malaysia and soon import Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in the country, many cannot wait to know more about the model Tesla Malaysia will offer and how much it will cost.

At the official launch of Tesla Malaysia at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on July 20, we finally got answers. The Tesla Model Y, which is said to be among the cheapest in the world, will be available in the country with prices starting at RM199,000.

Malaysians can choose from three variants: the Rear Wheel Drive (RM 199,000), the All-Wheel Drive Long Range (RM246,000), and the All-Wheel Drive Performance (RM288,000). These prices are inclusive of sales tax, and for those looking to finance their purchase, they can apply through Maybank, Ambank, and Liberty.

However, those wanting a specific colour will need to pay extra, as only the Pearl White option is free. Solid Black, Midnight Silver Metallic and Deep Blue colours come at an additional cost of RM5,000, while the Red variant costs an extra RM10,000.

Tesla Malaysia also announced that it will provide an EV charging network called the Tesla SuperCharger in the country. Although no pricing details have been released yet, the first location will be at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The company plans to announce more SuperCharger locations in the future, and will soon make the Wall Connector available, which will allow owners to charge their cars at home.

Bookings for the Tesla Model Y started last week and the cars are expected to be delivered by early next year. To book your own Tesla, go here. Learn more about the Model Y’s specs when you visit Tesla’s website.
