Star-studded Lineup Announced for 35th Macao International Music Festival

The Cultural Affairs Bureau has announced the line-up of programs and activities for the 35th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), scheduled from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30.
This edition of the festival, themed "Melodic Reconnections," will gather maestros and rising stars to present captivating performances that will leave a lasting impression on attendees.
Kicking off the festival is the Opera in Two Acts by Gioachino Rossini, The Barber of Seville. This adaptation of the famous comedy by the Royal Danish Theatre jointly produces French playwright Pierre Beaumarchais and renowned theatrical director Martin Lyngbo.
The festival concludes with Echoes of Life, a cross-disciplinary performance created by young pianist Alice Sara Ott and world-renowned architect Hakan Demirel. Ott's enchanting recital, accompanied by distinct video installations inspired by Chopin's 24 preludes, takes the audience on a rich journey of life.
For the first time, revered Studio Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi joins the festival with his "Joe Hisaishi 360" series. Collaborating with the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra and the Macao Orchestra, Hisaishi presents three distinctive programs: Music Future, The Legends, and Spirited Away.
In addition to international acts, the festival also showcases local rising talent. Bravo Macao! features young pianist Monic Chen, who will impress with classical works from the 20th century and contemporary pieces, accompanied by a passionate musical trio.
