BookXcess Kong Heng Ipoh (Perak, Malaysia)
This unique bookstore is nestled within the historic Kong Heng building, which was once a bank! This literary haven is an example of how the old blends with the new as the store retained some of its original interior elements — turning its metal vaults and deposit cash boxes into bookshelves and redecorated to become part of a fascinating literary maze.
BookXcess markets itself as the World’s Best Alternative Bookstore and has over thirteen uniquely designed bookstores all over Malaysia offering a vast collection of titles across all genres. They are also the company behind the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, the world's biggest book sale.

Mt. Cloud Bookshop (Baguio, Philippines)
The bookstore isn’t located on an actual cloud but it sure does come close as it’s located in the City of Pines, Baguio — four hours away from Manila. The bookstore has that homey vibe and doesn’t look like a commercial store at first glance but more like a bibliophile’s library.
One of its highlights is its wonderful selection of Filipino literature and the regular events they hold from author talks to writing workshops. Dive into Philippine mythology and learn more about local folklore or browse through their “Lessons Not Learned” shelf, a.k.a. the history shelves, which houses a variety of books on history and social sciences.

Woods in the Books (East Coast, Singapore)
This independent bookshop specializes in picture books and other illustrated books. A Children’s literature wonderland, this quaint East Coast bookshop is every bit adorable and encourages kids and the young at heart to step in through their door and discover endless wonders and possibilities.
You don’t ever have to grow up in this space where you’ll find a range of books that feature fantastic flights of fancy and brightly colored pages that will spark anyone’s imagination.

The Library (Koh Samui, Thailand)

If you’ve gone down the bookstagram or BookTok black hole or have seen your fair share of K-Dramas, you might have seen this popular library a few hundred times.
Located at the center of Starfield COEX mall, this aesthetic library is not only a place to immerse yourself in a good book but also a good place to meet up with friends for a nice chat or for a study session as the library is equipped with tables and power outlets.
The 13-meter-tall bookshelves house over 50,000 books and 600 magazines from both local and foreign publishers, and also offers eBooks which can be viewed on iPads. The library also hosts a variety of book-themed cultural events such as author meet-and-greets and poetry readings.
