Happy Birthday Singapore! Here’s What You Can Do to Celebrate (2022)

Singapore turns 57 this August! Celebrating the day the city-state gained independence, the 57th National Day goes by the “Stronger Together, Majulah!” theme to show the Singaporean resilience. As COVID-19 measures have eased since earlier this year, it’s time to expect bigger celebrations happening all over the streets. It’s going to be livelier this time around.

Didn’t get your ticket for the National Day Parade (NDP) show happening at The Float @Marina Bay? There are other ways for you to celebrate. Check them out below.

Watch Free-Fall Jumps by the Red Lions

The Singapore Armed Forces Parachute Team (SAFPT), or more popularly known as the Red Lions, will be performing free-fall jumps on Aug. 7 over two heartland locations:

  • Bishan (at the open field beside Bishan MRT Station) from 8:40 AM to 9:30 AM
  • Ghim Moh (at the open field opposite Ghim Moh Market) from 9:10 AM to 10 AM

Be sure to be in the spectator area before the jump and get a chance to win exclusive NDP memorabilia!

Visit the National Day Heartland Celebration Carnivals

From 4 PM to 9 PM, enjoy performances, activities, exhibitions, and a static display of platforms by the Singapore Armed Forces and the Home Team at the following locations:

  • North East: Punggol Open Field beside Waterway Point (Aug. 6)
  • North West: Open Space next to Sembawang MRT Station (Aug. 6)
  • South West: Open Field next to Buona Vista MRT Station (Aug. 6)

Watch Fireworks Display at a Location Near You

NDP @ Heartlands will be holding a fireworks display on Aug. 9 from 8:15 PM to 8:25 PM at five different locations: Open Field beside Ang Mo Kio Library (Central), Former Tampines Junior College (North East), Woodlands Stadium (North West), Jurong West Stadium (South West), and Bedok Stadium (South East). All venues will be open to the public, but they’ll be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visitors must be fully vaccinated. Children aged 12 and below, regardless of vaccination status, are allowed to enter.

Play the ‘Stronger Together’ Music Video on Loop

“Stronger Together” is performed by Taufik Batisah, the winner of reality TV series Singapore Idol Season One, featuring The Island Voices. It’s a rallying call for Singaporeans to come together and overcome adversity through unity. It’s an uplifting song with an upbeat melody and beautiful lyrics that remind us to be humble and grateful for what we have.
