1. The Ritual Theatre of Edo Kagura

Immerse yourself in Japanese culture through this Edo Kagura performance happening this weekend. In Japan, "Kagura" is a Shintō ritual dance or drama performed by masked dancers who reenact mythological tales. In this year's edition of "A Tapestry of Sacred Music," Wakayama Sachu, who hails from one of the four main lineages of Edo Kagura in Tokyo, will be performing. He is recognised by the Japanese government as a "transmitter of national Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property."

2. Baby Prep Talk & Fair

Don't miss the biggest party for moms-to-be in town! 4. 'Between Ground and Sky'

This interdisciplinary production marries song and theatre as an exploration of the works of Malaysian-American poet Shirley Geok-lin Lim. The show will comprise an eponymous song cycle of five songs composed by Tan Tiag Yi, which will be performed by Wong Yong En and pianist Koh Kai Jie with theatre work by theatre practitioners Ang Gey Pin and Ranice Tay, along with curator-producer Wu Ching Ying. Lim's poetry collections "Ars Poetica for the Day" and "Do You Live In?" on which the production is based will also be sold on the first day of performance. Get your tickets here

5. Sunset Camping Festival 2023
Campers, don't miss out on Decathlon Singapore's first-ever Sunset Camping Fest! 6. EXP International Jazz Day
It's International Jazz Day this Sunday! Celebrate it with EXP, who's got the Collective Improvisation and Open Jam workshops in store for all music and dance lovers. 7. Cheesy Day Out #3: Hangry No More
Foodies will have a ball at the third instalment of The Cheese Shop's Cheese Day Out! Arrive with an empty stomach and stuff yourself as much as you can with a wide range of treats and drinks, from freshly baked goods from Marymount Bakehouse, burrata salad from The Cheese Shop, and grilled ribs and burgers from The Travelling C.O.W. to fresh oysters from Slurp Your Oysters, gelato from Momolato, and so much more.

8. Family Botanical Art

If you've got artsy kids, this art activity is perfect for them to learn about the colours of mother nature. The event by Mindful Space will have them experimenting with the natural pigments of plants and soil, as well as exploring their creativity and patience in the artistic process. The class is parent-accompanied for those aged four to seven, while there's an optional drop-off for kids aged seven and up. Get your tickets here.

9. Labour Day Rally 2023
Non-government organisation Workers Make Possible is holding a rally this May 1 to mark Labour Day. The event will feature speeches by workers from different industries, including a health care worker, a bus driver, a food delivery rider, an F&B worker, rental flat residents, and community organisers to share about their struggles as ordinary folk living in Singapore.
The speakers will also present "The People's 15 Demands" for better conditions, which includes allowing all workers to unionise, the extension of overtime pay to workers earning S$4,500 monthly or less, the introduction of a 2% wealth tax on the richest 1%, and the end of the Goods and Services Tax hike, among others. 10. 'Ang Palaboy at Ang Tatlong Krus' (The Vagrant and the Three Crosses) Project
Catch the last few days of Filipino photographer Jomar Tingson's project at Objectifs - Centre for Photography and Film. A recipient of the gallery's Documentary Award in 2022 under the Emerging category, the project features Tingson's documentation of Laguna's Paete and the town's spiritual and religious beliefs and traditions. It is at once "an exercise of faith and curiosity; a reconciliation of past and present, wonder and devotion."
