Six POP MART Fan-Favorite Figures You Should Know About

A rising global force in pop culture and entertainment, POP MART is taking the world of designer toys by storm one blind box at a time.
With their creative designs and adorable characters packed in irresistible mystery boxes that double the mystery by adding a secret or random figure, the Chinese toy company has tickled the market’s curiosity. It’s easy to fall into the hype of collecting them as they provide the perfect balance of creativity and collectability, incidentally healing many people’s inner child.
Whether you’re a seasoned collector or new to the world of art toys, our latest list highlights the most popular POP MART characters that have captured hearts worldwide. So, let’s get right into it and discover the charm behind these fan-favorite figures!
Labubu and The Monsters

Anyone who doesn’t know who Labubu has probably been living under a rock because there’s not a single day when we don’t come across someone with a Labubu charm hanging off their bags. People online and a handful of showbiz personalities have shown off their Labubu collections from cutesy bag charms to MEGA figures lining up their shelves like in a museum.
This mischievous, quirky creature with big eyes, a wide grin, and pointy ears is part of The Monsters Art Toy series created by Hong Kong-based artist Kasing Lung in collaboration with How2work. Launched in 2015, The Monsters were said to have been modeled after elves, fairies, and monsters as the designer was raised in the Netherlands and was inspired by Nordic fairytales such as "The Story of Puca,” which is from which Labubu was inspired.
However, it was not until 2019 that they started selling them in blind boxes when Kasing signed an exclusive license agreement with the Chinese toy maker.
Although Labubu is the star of The Monsters universe, it also includes equally adorable characters such as Zimomo, Mokoko, Tycoco, Spooky, Yaya, Pippo, and Pato.
Blind boxes cost HK$120 per piece. If you want to collect all the designs from a particular series, you can also opt to buy the entire set which costs HK$720. There’s also other merchandise inspired by Labubu apart from the usual Vinyl plushies and MEGA dolls including bags, phone cases, Airpods cases, and pendants.
Molly

If Labubu is an elven creature, Molly looks more like a little princess. The character was created by Kenny Wong in 2006, an artist and designer who founded Kennyswork and served as the art director for the Brothersfree creative team.
According to the designer, Molly was inspired by a young girl he met at a charity art event. She had blue eyes and blonde hair, and holding a paintbrush while completely engrossed with her artwork. It was only fitting that he also named the character after her.
Molly’s signature features include her lake-blue eyes, blonde bob, and playful pout. She is described as a confident girl with a passion for drawing and is always curious about the world around her. Ever since Kenny started collaborating with POP MART, Molly has been sporting a variety of looks including Space Molly where she’s found wearing her astronaut gear and Carb Lover Molly where she can be seen dressed as different types of bread.
Apart from the blind boxes, Molly is a popular MEGA collectible and is available in 100%, 400%, and 1000% sizes. These supersized figures can cost anywhere between HK$95 to HK$7,319.
Hirono

Hirono was created by Chinese contemporary artist and curator of Inner Flow, Lang, to highlight human emotions. The character is a little boy with messy hair, puffy eyes, and flushed cheeks. Something about that sullen expression on his face makes you want to comfort him, which is probably why it became such a popular collectible in POP MART’s catalog. It’s a doll layered with personality with each design uniquely put together and open to many interpretations.
Hirono is the epitome of human emotions as each series depicts feelings of sadness, pain, and cowardice, but also joy, kindness, and even the desire for freedom.
Some of the popular series in the collection include the “Hirono Mime Series” which depicts our inner complexities and “Hirono x Le Petit Prince,” which was inspired by the classic French novella, “The Little Prince.” A blind box for the Le Petit Prince series costs around HK$81 per box and HK$972 per set.
Crybaby

Depicted as a literal crying baby, Crybaby was created by Thai artist Molly Yllom in 2017 as a way to cope with the loss of her dog, Somchun. Molly described her first Crybaby piece as a “heartfelt expression of raw, deep-seated emotions.” According to POP MART’s website, this character represents “every shade of emotion” and reminds us that laughter isn’t the only way to combat sadness… tears have their healing powers too. So, it’s okay to be a “crybaby” sometimes.
Crybaby characters are available in figures, plush dolls, and plush charms in a variety of designs and themes. Some of the notable designs include the “CRYBABY CHEER UP, BABY!” and the “CRYBABY × Powerpuff Girls Series Figures.”
Plush dolls can cost around HK$235 while blind boxes can be bought for HK$81 per piece or HK$972 per set depending on the series design.
SKULLPANDA

This cool, slightly gothic chic is described as someone who journeys through different worlds, taking on various personas and living out many lives. If you’re an adventurous spirit on a quest to find yourself and to discover the mysteries of the universe, then you’ll be able to resonate with SKULLPANDA.
This character was named after its artist who is the founder of North Studio art workshop. SKULLPANDA has a background in game concept design, which is reflected in the character’s edgy design and make up look — a feature that made it popular among cosplayers and distinguishes it from the usual cutesy aesthetic that POP MART markets.
SKULLPANDA is your cool girl companion which you can bring along as a keychain, bag charm, or even phone case. Blind boxes cost HK$81 per piece and HK$972 for the entire series set. She’s also available in a massive 400% MEGA size for HK$1,750.
Dimoo

This cute boy is often depicted with his head in the clouds, or rather with an actual cloud on his head, and was created by Ayan Deng, an artist, illustrator, and toy designer.
The story behind this adorable character is that Dimoo is a shy boy in the real world who dreams of going on adventures but is held back by his fears. He’s also a big fan of sleeping, so he makes those dreams a reality in the dream world. This is also where he meets the adventurous Baby Cloud who brings him out of his shell. Together they go on adventures and meet new friends, supporting and growing together.
Dimoo’s series is cute and whimsical and plays with a lot of pastel colors and cute-and-fluffy design elements. It’s also available in a variety of merchandise from lanyards and quilt phone cases to cotton dolls and action figures. Dimoo blind boxes cost HK$81 per piece and HK$972 for the entire set.
