Hit South Korean cooking competition show “Culinary Class Wars” is preparing for its comeback!
Netflix announced that the popular cooking reality show has officially started recruitment for its second season on Dec. 3, 2024. Following the success of Season 1, Netflix says that they will be “open to everyone” for applications.
“Open to everyone, regardless of nationality or where you reside, the show’s only requirement is confidence in your cooking skills.”
Veteran restaurateur Paik Jong-won and Michelin Three-Star chef Ahn Sung-jae, the judges of “Culinary Class Wars” expressed their high expectations for the upcoming season.
Paik said “I’m looking forward to discovering contestants whom even I wouldn’t have expected. Age and experience don’t matter – if you have the confidence to cook something delicious, then go for it. All that matters is that it tastes good.”
Ahn added: “I hope we can uncover hidden culinary talents, like unearthing a diamond in the rough.”
“Culinary Class Wars” follows “Physical: 100” in expanding their participants’ range to outside South Korea.
“Culinary Class Wars” is a South Korean cooking competition patterned after the style of “Physical: 100” that premiered in September 2024. 100 elite chefs were divided into two classes: white spoons (industry veterans) and black spoons (newcomers), all competing for a prize of ₩300 million.
Kwon Seong-joon, a contestant under the Black Spoon class, was declared the winner of Season 1.
“Culinary Class Wars” was the most popular foreign language series on Netflix during its first week of broadcast, with critics praising the show for its “high level of expertise and creativity displayed by the contestants.”
