What’s On Disney Plus? New Mar 2023 Releases, TV Series, and Movies
March 07, 2023
Disney Plus is laying down the law with our favourite return-shows (albeit somewhat ‘Star Wars’ heavy, we’re not complaining). With shows like ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ continuing to pump out episodes in March, we also welcome the return of ‘The Mandalorian’ with the long-awaited Season three of the series.
For music centred content, we’re happy to announce two unique releases from both Miley Cyrus and 80s Irish rock band U2 in their respective documentaries. From women with superpowers, to coming-of-age on the basketball court, – check out The Beat Asia’s top picks for Disney must-watches this March.

‘Miley Cyrus – Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Session)’
Miley Cyrus returns to Disney in a symbolic full-circle acknowledgement of her Hannah Montana days to the delight of fans around the world. Cinematic performances of never-heard-before songs from her new album, ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ are threaded with exclusive interviews – speaking to how the album has become her love letter to the city of Los Angeles.
Split into two acts, the performance features seven additional tracks from her album as well as a special performance with Rufus Wainwright.

‘Chang Can Dunk’
This heart-warming coming-of-age sports drama follows Chang, a 16-year-old Asian American high schooler in the marching band as he struggles with going after his true passion: basketball. After betting the school basketball star that he will dunk before homecoming, Chang must jump through all the hoops to finally go toe-to-toe with himself on the court.
Hoping to impress his crush Kristy and gain the recognition and respect of his peers, he’ll have to break down everything he knows about himself and get as far away from his comfort zone as possible.

‘Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman ’
It seems that the Irish Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are entering a retrospective era, revisiting their extensive backlog and reimagining their greatest hits in ‘Songs of Surrender’ - an album of 40 re-recorded songs.
To coincide with the album’s release, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville follows Dave Letterman as he travels to Ireland to meet up with Bono and the Edge in their hometown of Dublin. As the pair lead Letterman around the city, they speak to him about their journey as musicians and friends.

Series
‘Mandalorian (Season 3)’
Building off the massive success of the first season and the even greater success of the second season, Din Djardin (or simply, Mando), returns to fulfil a promise with the young Grogu he has now grown to love.
When we last saw our heroes, Grogu and Mando had shared a tearful goodbye, as Grogu had to learn the ways of the Jedi under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker. Surprisingly, the pair are seen reunited in another Star Wars Disney Show, ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ – leaving fans excited to how Season 3 will kick off. Hopefully, it’ll start with the two friends saddled in their newly restored N-1 starfighter, off to continue their adventure.
When: Mar 1
‘MPower’

Marvel’s MPower is described as a salute to all the Marvel women, onscreen and off, who have brought iconic Marvel characters to life. While the official show description is minimal and vague, it’s likely that the series will focus on some of the major female characters in the Marvel Universe; including Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Ms Marvel, Shuri, Wasp – and more.
It goes without saying that the talents of those working behind the camera, from ideation, to costume, cinematography, and screenwriting are likely to speak on some ‘superpowers’ of their own.
When: Mar. 8
‘Witness to Disaster’
In National Geographic’s 2019 docuseries “Witness to Disaster”, extreme footage from some of the world’s most devastating catastrophes are told through surviving witnesses, bringing to life the terrifying reality of what it is like in the midst of nature’s most destructive attacks.
