Logistics Industry Urges Gov't Support as It Sets Sights on Being ASEAN Hub

Thailand Logistics Industry

Thailand's logistics industry is setting its sights on becoming an ASEAN logistics hub and has called on the government for support.

The Thai Logistics Service Federation recently said that the new railway link between Laos and China has made the kingdom an "attractive logistics gateway" to the region and Europe, as per a report by the National News Bureau of Thailand on Aug. 4.

The federation added that despite the industry's promise, it's still confronted with issues when it comes to adjusting to the market's pivot to smart and green logistics. Support from the government, such as VAT reduction and policies to promote trade and the transition to electric vehicles, could help offset these challenges.

As part of its bid to position the industry as an ASEAN logistics hub, the International Trade Promotion Department and private entities in Thailand will also be hosting the Tilog-Logistix 2023 exhibit from Aug. 17-19. Titled "Smart and Green Logistics for a Sustainable Tomorrow," the exhibit will give the public a glimpse into the industry's new technologies and business networks through various products and services from over 400 brands.

Location: Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), 88 Debaratna Road, Bang Na Tai, Bang Na
