Apple Working on Fix for Camera Shake Issues Affecting iPhone 14 Users

Apple has announced a fix is in the works to address a reported issue with the iPhone 14 Pro series that has been affecting third-party apps, such as Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. While Apple hasn't addressed the specific cause of the issue, users have reported shaky images and, more concerningly, buzzing and grinding sounds emanating from the camera array.

Online commentators speculate the issue is due to the phone's second-generation optical image stabilisation system, which has seen a significant increase in functionality over the previous generation of handsets. Apple has stated an update is due shortly, and this would point to the issue with the iPhone 14 Pro's camera API, not from the side of the application developers.

This will be the second update to address camera-related performance issues in the new generation of phones. Last week, Apple pushed out a fix in iOS 16.0.1 to address an issue for iPhone 14 Pro Max users, who were experiencing problems when taking still photos in landscape orientation.

The iPhone 14 Pro is available from HK$8,599, with an estimated shipping date of late October to early November. The larger iPhone 14 Pro Max is available for pre-order from HK$9,399 and is due to ship early to mid-November. Those hoping to get their hands on the Max model in time for Christmas should get their orders in soon, as these dates will be pushed back as seasonal demand increases.
