Japanese all-girl kawaii-core heavy metal group Babymetal are coming to the city on their official 2023 World Tour this May. 31. This marks an official return to live performances, since Babymetal took a hiatus from concerts over the past two years.

Visiting stops across the Asia region, and in Australia, the band is playing their first show in Hong Kong at Hall 10 of Asia World Expo in Chek Lap Kok. The set up is all standing, with more details to come on what additional benefits are included in the VIP package.

The group will also play in Jakarta, Bangkok, Taipei, and Kuala Lumpur over the course of this tour. This 2023 Babymetal World Tour concert marks a local debut for Babymetal, a four-year postponement from their initial announcement to perform at the previously cancelled 2019 Clockenflap Arts and Music Festival.

Famed as icons of the unique ‘kawaii-metal’ genre that mixes cute Japanese pop sounds with heavy metal music, Babymetal was originally founded as a sub-unit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin. Best known for hits like ‘Gimme chocolate!!’, ‘Karate’, ‘Light and Darkness’, the 2023 Babymetal World Tour in Hong Kong is sure to be a fun and high-energy affair.

Tickets will be available through HK Ticketing from Apr. 25 onwards. Stay tuned to Babymetal’s tour page for more details.
