Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2023

Twenty museums in Macau have banded together to co-organise the Macao International Museum Day Carnival in celebration of International Museum Day this May 18.

The annual event will hold its opening ceremony on May 14 at the Convention Center of the Macao Science Center, as per a press release by the Cultural Affairs Bureau during the museum sector's press conference last Tuesday, April 25.

The International Council of Museums designated International Museum Day on May 18, 1977, in a bid to promote museums and their sustainable development to the general public. This year's museum day has the theme, "Museums, Sustainable and Well-being," which champions the region's cultural heritage.

The carnival is open to all and has tons of fun activities in store for attendees, including game booths and workshops, like the experiential activity "Understanding the Exhibits of the Macao Museum" and the "Colours in Concert: Printmaking Registration Workshop," among others. The public should keep their eyes peeled as various museums will also hold free exhibits, tours, and workshops separately for the month.
