In a bid to get residents to develop reading habits, Macao’s Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), with the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the University of Macau Library, and Macau Library and Information Management Association, launched the “Macao Library Week 2023” that will go on from April until May.

The event aims to “infuse reading into daily life” through workshops, installations, and pop-up libraries available to Macanese residents from April 21 to May 6. Organisers will also hold flash reading mobs on April 22-23 in select districts in the Historic Centre of Macau, hoping that this new interactive reading experience will attract people to try new books and old favourites.
There will also be an event called, “I have coffee, do you have a book?”, which aims to get people talking about the books they read, and “enjoy the pleasure with coffee and books.”
Rounding out the list of activities are booths, workshops, panels, and family reading sessions. There will be reserved reading spaces, shows, and art installations, creating a citywide reading atmosphere.
