One of Chef Margarita Forés’ creations, Grace Park Dining celebrates the finest Philippine flavors while embracing international techniques. Known for its commitment to locally sourced ingredients — a long-held passion of the late Chef Margarita — the restaurant offers a home-style dining experience set against a sophisticated yet inviting space where every dish feels thoughtfully familiar, elevated, and deeply Filipino.

Tucked within a quiet backyard, One-MICHELIN-starred Linamnam MNL honors Filipino cuisine through a thoughtful dissection of flavors. Set in an intimate, rustic space, the restaurant celebrates the best of Philippine produce through its 11- and 16-course tasting menus, which highlight seasonal native crops and locally sourced ingredients.

Each course is rooted in tradition, designed to spotlight the natural character of its components. Several dishes draw inspiration from regional tradition, and from MICHELIN Young Chef Awardee Chef Don Baldosano’s earliest memories, including the Hilaw Inihaw and the Pusit Tart.

The Fatted Calf offers an elegant yet homey escape from the city’s constant hustle and bustle, with a thoughtfully curated menu that highlights locally sourced ingredients. Launched on Feb. 4, 2026, NYX marks the Vikings Group’s newest, posher approach to dining.

Building on the legacy of its established buffet brands — Vikings, Vikings The Alley, NIU, and Four Seasons — NYX emerges as its most luxurious and polished concept yet, with thoughtfully curated stations, palatial food selections, and an experience tailor-made to feel both indulgent and intentional.

Located on the fourth floor of One Ayala Mall’s fourth-floor Al Fresco dining area, NYX can be quite elusive if you’re unfamiliar with the layout. But once you find it, it becomes a place that’s easily unforgettable.

Drawing inspiration from Nyx, the Greek Goddess of the Night, the restaurant is dressed in shades of midnight blue, black, and gold. When sunlight hits its exterior, it glows softly — echoing the golden hues often seen in animated retellings of Greek mythology.

At night, the mood shifts instantly. From the outside, the restaurant appears almost hidden, veiled in a mystery that signals luxury at first glance.

Inside, the drama continues. Warm and cool lights blend seamlessly to create an atmosphere that drips in opulence. Black leather seats, booths, and marble tables are thoughtfully spread across the 1,088-square-meter space, offering both intimacy and glamour to its visitors.

The buffet spread is arranged in a multi-station, seamless line, stretching across nearly a quarter of the restaurant’s space. Guests can take their time browsing through the selection in just one easy walk from end to end, where the charcuterie and dessert stations and cocktail bar meet at the center, directly across the main spread.

At the center of it all is a stage where live jazz acts perform and serenade guests during their meals, elevating the experience beyond food and drinks.

The Menu

NYX’s buffet selection leans towards global and international cuisine, setting it apart from its sister restaurants. Guests are invited to enjoy a gastronomic experience and indulge in an elevated version of familiar favorites from Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Western traditions — thoughtfully reimagined with finesse and premium ingredients, while still tailored to local tastes.

The restaurant also has its own cocktail bar, where in-house specials draw inspiration from the night, a splendid selection of cold cuts and carvings, and an extravagant array of sweets and desserts that are gorgeous to look at.

The Cost

As expected of a luxury buffet, dining at NYX comes with a premium price point — comparable to that of upscale hotel buffets.

For weekday lunch, rates start at P788 (Kids, 3-4ft.), P1,588 (Kids, 4-4.6ft), and P2,288 (Adult).

Meanwhile, weekday dinners, weekends, and holidays start at P1,088 (Kids, 3-4ft.), P2,188 (Kids 4’-4.6ft.), and P3,288 (Adult). Senior and PWD discount rates are also applicable in the restaurant.

What We Tried

NYX invited The Beat Manila to experience the restaurant firsthand, allowing us to sample dishes from each of its thoughtfully curated stations — and more than a few seconds. The verdict? We were incredibly stuffed well into the next day.

Our meal began at the charcuterie station, where sausages, prosciutto, Ibérico hams, and cheeses like cheddar, Manchego, and brie set the tone for what was to come. Spoiler alert: it was a lot.

From there, we worked our way through the buffet, ordering an array of small plates from nearly every station — from Steak and Frites and Pork Ibérico to Lechon de Leche, Salt-baked Salmon, Braised Pork Belly with Quail Egg, Gyuu Saikoro, and Tempura.

Back at our table, we took out our phones and ordered some selections from the à la carte menu, including French Onion Soup, Caesar Salad, and Warm Prawn Salad.

Each diner was also treated to one complimentary plate from the menu, and we opted for the U.S. Scallops and the Lobster. NYX further elevates the dining experience with complimentary free-flowing wine throughout the meal.

We rounded out the evening with signature cocktails from the in-house bar — the Obsidian Dream and the El Macua — alongside delicate macarons and decadent cakes from the dessert station.

What We Liked

From the moment we stepped into NYX, it was clear that the experience was thoughtfully designed and curated for every guest to enjoy. We left the restaurant incredibly sated and pleasantly exhausted, which we felt well into the next day.

What stood out most was the exceptional service from the staff. The waitstaff were consistently attentive and accommodating, making sure that our needs were met and making the entire dining experience feel seamless.

When it came to the food, the variety alone was already impressive — but what made it even more fascinating was learning that the menu is regularly changed and some dishes are rotated. It’s a thoughtful approach that keeps the experience fresh for returning guests (us, included), while also allowing NYX to refine and highlight its most well-loved dishes over time.

NYX also boasts menu items that you would rarely see in a regular buffet. For example: chocolate pieces in the dessert station that had experimental flavors which challenged your inner gourmet, Chinese-style duck, poké bowls, ceviche, foie gras, and more. The opportunity to experiment without having to commit to a full serving (compared to ordering à la carte in a restaurant) is another plus for us, especially given the premium price point.

If you want to broaden your palate without dropping five figures on a dinner in an upscale restaurant, this is a good entry point. While it's not promising the same level of excellence (our MICHELIN-starred restaurants are on a different level, after all), you can certainly get your money's worth by trying a little bit of everything you hardly encounter virtually without limit — a move that will make our ancestors proud.

What We Didn’t Like

Despite an otherwise enjoyable buffet experience, one major detail slightly detracted from the evenings we visited and could benefit from improvement.

One notable concern was that some dishes were not always served at their optimal temperature, which occasionally took away from the overall enjoyment of the meal at NYX. While some dishes were served hot and fresh, others arrived with only the plates being warm.

At times, the contrast felt a little jarring and distracting, and refining this detail would elevate the overall experience even further.

What You Should Order

NYX’s buffet selection is surely a must-try, and what you should order depends on your personal preferences! But if we chose specific plates to recommend, it would be the Gyuu Saikoro, Warm Prawn Salad, Cold Cuts and Cheeses, Steak, Crème Brulée Burnt Basque Cheesecake, and Tiramisu Burnt Basque Cheesecake. You also wouldn't be disappointed with their sashimi selection, as well as their cold appetizers (such as the ceviche).

We also recommend pairing your meals with one of NYX’s signature cocktails, apart from the free-flowing wine, of course. And here’s a tip: arrive hungry — your eyes will do the eating as soon as you arrive.

Morocco’s legendary coffee house Bacha Coffee is officially making its Philippine debut real soon — starting its foray into the Philippine market with a pop-up at Greenbelt 3 in Makati City.

Known for its elegant coffee rooms, vast collection of 100% Arabica specialty coffee, and its commitment to the art of traditional coffee preparation, Bacha Coffee is offering locals a first taste of its globally celebrated blends through the pop-up.

Set against the polished backdrop of Greenbelt 3, near luxury boutiques like Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Tiffany & Co., and Dior, the Bacha Coffee pop-up delivers a refined, takeaway-focused experience for curious coffee lovers and for those who have tried Bacha Coffee while abroad.

The boutique-style kiosk offers five Single Origin and Fine Flavored blends: Sidamo Mountain Coffee (Ethiopia), São Silvestre Coffee (Brazil), Sweet Mexico Coffee, I Love Paris Coffee, and Singapore Morning Coffee.

Yardstick Ranks 34th on the World’s Best 100 Coffee Shops List for 2026

Our favorite café isn’t an “IYKYK” spot anymore!

Popular Metro Manila-based café Yardstick has secured its spot on the World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026 list, ranking 34th on this year’s list!

Announced during the recently concluded Coffee Fest in Madrid, Spain, on Feb. 16, 2026, Yardstick is the only Philippine coffee shop on the list. Last year, the café ranked 18th and was joined by three other cafes in the Philippines — El Union (61st), Single Origin (83rd), and Crema and Cream Coffee Roasters (86th).

Yardstick joins the ranks of 99 other coffee shops around the world, which were evaluated by over 800 coffee and hospitality professionals (70%), combined with public voting (30%). Each café is assessed on these criteria: coffee quality, barista experience, sustainability practices, customer service, ambience, food and pastry quality, innovation, and consistency.

Onyx Coffee LAB from the United States climbed to 1st place, after ranking 2nd in 2025. It is followed by Tim Wendelboe (2nd, Norway), Alquimia Coffee (3rd, El Salvador), Only Coffee Project Crows Nest (4th, Australia), Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters (5th, Australia), Apartment Coffee (6th, Singapore), Gota Coffee Experts (7th, Austria), Story of Ono (8th, Malaysia), Tropicalia Coffee (9th, Colombia), and Tanat (10th, France).

Yardstick, a homegrown brand that pioneered the third-wave coffee culture in the country, has been operating since 2013 with eight branches around Metro Manila. Opened in August 2025, HAO offers the best of Chinese cuisine through a deceptively straightforward menu. With a name that means “good” in Chinese, the restaurant reflects its philosophy in every detail — honest flavors, masterful execution, and a quiet confidence that doesn’t need to shout (or elaborate anything in their menu).

Blending traditional Chinese favorites with contemporary flair, HAO redefines Chinese dining — pairing heritage with modern interpretations of beloved dishes and legacy with today’s tastes.

Vibe and Venue

Located along Rizal Drive at BGC, HAO is hard to miss. From almost a mile away, its rich, burgundy-red exterior stands out from the line of colorful buildings, layered with urban Chinese elements and pop culture references, all artistically graffitied across its walls.

Inside, the red continues — softening the atmosphere into something more intimate. Red velvet booths, black marble tables, and warm brown seats create a space that feels both elevated and easy, like fine dining without formality. Muted peach blossoms and plum blossoms decorate the walls, anchored by brown shelves lined with traditional Chinese tea sets — quietly setting the tone for what’s to come: a meal rooted in heritage, warmth, and quiet indulgence, yet undeniably contemporary.

Upstairs, the mood shifts. Nicknamed huài, meaning “bad” in Chinese, it serves as HAO’s cocktail bar. With warm gray walls lined with green velvet booths and plush seating, the space feels like the downstairs’ stylish and mature opposite. Here, guests linger over a tipple or two, accompanied by DJs who set the soundtrack for the evening.

The Menu

HAO’s menu is straightforward and simple, much like many Chinese restaurants in the metro. What sets it apart, however, is its dedication to turning familiar dishes into works of contemporary art. The menu invites diners into a world of elevated Chinese cuisine, where beloved best-sellers are reimagined with thoughtful flair. Think dim sum, noodles, soup, and other usual items often seen in many Chinese establishments.

The restaurant also serves cocktails inspired by the Legend of the Eight Treasures — each one perfectly encapsulates the culture and context behind it.

The Cost

While the name and menu sound dauntingly expensive, the menu is quite the opposite. Every dish and drink's prices fall on the range of usual Chinese restaurants in the menu.

The dim sum are priced from P170 to P440, while noodles and starters range from P210 to P600. They also have vegetable dishes (P380 to 420) and soups (P190 to P220). Their mains can go as high as P1,280, but they have lunch-time rice meals at reasonable prices from P320 to P420 (only available from 11 AM to 3 PM). Lastly, their desserts range from P190 to P220.

When it comes to alcoholic drinks, they serve wine by the glass at P500, while signature cocktails are priced at P550. Other than these, they have other liquor options by the shot or bottle.

What We Tried

HAO gave The Beat Manila the chance to try out all their bestsellers, which allowed us to taste their version of Chinese favorites from start to finish — with a signature cocktail in hand.

We began our meal with the Shrimp Dumpling with Wasabi Mayo, which gave a satisfying play of textures — the gratifying crunch of the wrapper meeting the soft bite of the filling, elevated by the sharpness of wasabi mayo for a well-balanced, deeply enjoyable bite.

Next came the dim sum. The Siomai and Xiao Long Bao delivered a classic, incredibly comforting experience — exactly what you hope for, and then some.

For noodles, we had the Angus Beef Hofan, an especially savory and umami-rich dish that felt quite indulgent. The beef was cooked to perfection, and each bite carried a lingering depth of flavor.

For the mains, we had Sweet and Sour Chicken — a staple at any Chinese restaurant. Here, the sauce coated each piece perfectly, with a gentle sharpness cutting through the crisp exterior for a balanced and satisfying bite.

Next, we had the Salt and Pepper Iberico Ribs, a rich and tender dish with a beautiful contrast of textures. The crisp exterior gave way to soft, juicy meat, making every bite feel moreish.

We paired our mains with the Yang Chow Fried Rice — because what is a Chinese meal without it? Flavorful and satisfying on its own, HAO’s version stood out for being lighter than expected, cooked noticeably with less oil without sacrificing the elements that make it comforting.

We rounded out our meal with three of HAO’s signature cocktails: Health, made with Cazadores Reposado, Pei Pa Koa, and lime; Wealth, a whiskey-based tipple infused with Sichuan honey, smoked oak, and citrus; and Pearl, a Bacardi-based, tea-like drink mixed with five-spice ghee, orange, and lime.

In just a few sips, each drink had its own personality. Health tasted like a comforting remedy in a glass, the Pei Pa Koa lent it a soothing, medicinal edge, while also mixed with alcohol. Wealth had a subtle, fruity finish that paired beautifully with our meal. Meanwhile, Pearl was quietly charming — served in a Chinese teacup and left behind a gentle, floral aftertaste that felt like it wasn’t a cocktail.

To end on a sweet note, we had the Yin Yang — an Almond Pudding and Black Sesame Pudding resting on a bed of passion fruit syrup. With just one bite, a subtle sweetness unfolds on the palate, bringing the incredibly flavorful journey to a quiet, satisfying close.

What We Liked

The meal was absolutely filling, to say outright. We absolutely enjoyed everything we had at HAO! But if we were to choose our personal favorites, it would be the Shrimp Dumpling with Wasabi Mayo, Salt and Pepper Iberico Ribs, the Xiao Long Bao, the Pearl cocktail, and Yin Yang.

These truly stood out during our meal, and we definitely recommend them should you visit HAO!

What We Didn’t Like

While there was not much to critique during our meal, we could say that the Angus Beef Hofan was a bit too oily for our liking, it might take a while for the bite to settle down, and might even overpower the other dishes you have on the table.

What You Should Order

With its simple and straightforward options, all of HAO’s dishes and bestsellers would surely be great to have on your table! But if we were to choose two from everything we had, it would be the Shrimp Dumpling with Wasabi Mayo and the Salt and Pepper Iberico Ribs.

We highly recommend trying out a tipple or two from HAO’s signature cocktail menu, too!
