Activities to Do During Holy Week in Singapore

The Holy Week is the second-most renowned Christian holiday, next to Christmas. The five-day commemoration begins on Palm Sunday until Easter and devotees are expected to engage in some religious traditions such as fasting, going to churches, reading novenas, processions, and penance.
Since Easter represents the resurrection of Christ, Singaporeans celebrate by indulging in their favorite foods. Part of Singapore's Holy Week traditions is the Easter festivities where children participate in marshmallows and chocolate Easter Egg hunts.

Create an Easter Diorama
To better explain to children the death and resurrection of Jesus, you can create an Easter diorama using clay or paper mache. Start by building the burial site with tomb and stone, then wrap a plastic toy with a white cloth or gauze and place it on the tomb. Afterward, you can begin the story about how Jesus went missing from the guarded tomb and came back from the dead.
Easter Dinner Menu
Aside from fun activities, there is plenty of food options you can choose from during the long-awaited Holy Week. Here are the restaurants that offer some classic Easter dishes.
- Alley 25 – It will be offering a special Easter menu that ranges from gourmet sausages to roasted lamb leg and honey-baked ham. Alley 25’s signature main dishes beef burger with seared foie gras and grilled jerk chicken will also be available.
- Capella Singapore – It will serve a brunch menu including chocolate martinis, herb-roasted pyrenees milk-fed lamb Leg, and U.S. prime Angus beef tartare. Diners can also participate in the restaurant's Easter egg painting workshop.

Easter Egg Hunt

It became a tradition during Holy Week in Singapore to find 100 big eggs within the area of Harbour Front and Sentosa where participants can win exciting prizes. The cool egg designs are commonly painted by Singapore’s local artists.
Easter Family Trip
During Holy Week in Singapore, families go out for a picnic or explore Sentosa Island to enjoy outdoor theme parks and beaches. For more fun outdoor activities, it is best to visit Botanic Gardens, Gardens by the Bay, and Jacob Ballas Garden where kids can play.
Indoor Home Activities
When the weather doesn’t cooperate for outdoor events, you can still do some amusing activities at home together with your friends and family. You can set up indoor games, watch evangelical movies, or organize egg painting sessions for the ultimate egg hunt around your house.
Housecleaning
For many Christians, housecleaning takes place during the first three days of the Holy Week. This serves as a preparation for the Holy Saturday when priests visit to bless your home. It also helps cleanse the mind and soul of the family when the house is tidy and has a relaxing ambiance.
Moreover, you can ask your children to help clean and prepare the house for the upcoming blessing from the Church.
Virtual Museum Tours
During the Holy Week, you can check out some church museums or art galleries in Singapore that virtually features The Passion of the Christ or any exhibits that depict the trial, suffering, and death of the Lord.
