'From Hong Kong to Bangkok': Famed Mak's Noodle to Open at CentralWorld

Attention, noodleheads.

Hong Kong's pride, Mak's Noodle, will be opening its first-ever branch in Thailand at shopping plaza CentralWorld in Bangkok.

Mak's Noodle Thailand made the announcement via Facebook last April 27, although the exact date of its opening has yet to be announced.

The famed noodle house is over 100 years old, established by Guangzhou's "King of Wonton Noodle" Mak Woon-chi in the 1920s. His son, Mak King-hung, continued his legacy when he moved to Hong Kong, setting up a humble food stall along Gilman Street in Central in 1968. In 2009, Mak's Noodle was recognised by the Michelin Guide.

Today, Mak's Noodle has nine branches in Hong Kong and two in Guangzhou where it originated, serving up various delicious noodles of all kind. These include the famous wonton noodles with shrimp, shrimp and pork dumplings, and shrimp wontons and dumplings, as well as beef tendon, beef brisket, pork knuckle, pork liver, and plain egg noodles, among many others.

Mak's Noodle's signature dish is a treat for both the taste and sight, characterised by perfect wontons with delicate semi-transparent wrappings and a hearty broth.
