A Concert Must Have Add Height With These Platform Shoes

When it comes to watching concerts and live performances, it’s not just a battle of securing tickets, it’s also a battle of making sure you’ll see your favourites clearly from your spot. If you’re the type who gets VIP tickets just to be as close to the stage as possible, you’ll be at a disadvantage if you’re lacking in height. But no worries! You can get yourself a pair of these platform shoes to give you an added boost without sacrificing comfort. Check them out.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Elevate High

Nike has taken their classic Air Jordans to the next level by introducing a taller cousin. The design looks like your typical high-cut shoes with the iconic brand logo, but the midsole is thicker for added height. To level up your casual fit, it’s available in three colour styles: Titanium/Sail/Dark Smoke Grey, Celestial Gold/White/Sail/Muslin, and Sail/Coconut Milk/Titanium.

Make the most of the classic feel of canvas with these platform shoes by Adidas. While thicker soles are known to give additional height, not all promise comfort. But this is what sets the brand apart because it features a Cloudfoam midsole that offers step-in comfort and superior cushioning, plus a rubber outsole that provides grip and a low-profile look. This style and design, however, only comes in two colours: Cloud White/Chalk White and Core Black/Cloud White.

Think you have enough Chucks in your collection? Think again, as this Converse Run Star Hike can literally level up your casual look. It features the usual high-cut canvas that we love but with a thicker midsole and a sawtooth outsole for added style and traction. What’s more, the outer sole extends to the back to offer a unique design. Apart from black, you can also get this in brown, green, orange, and other colours.

Vans Old Skool Stackform Shoe

The Classic Slip-On Stackform is like the younger sibling of the original Vans slip-on silhouette but chunkier. It’s upgraded with a 34-millimetre platform height and finished with traditional elastic side accents, signature rubber waffle outsoles, and supportive padded collars to bring a new “Off The Wall” style to your concert OOTD. It’s also in slip-on style, so there’s no need to worry about shoelaces untying while you’re soaking in the moment.

Get this pair on their website. If you want other designs, the Stackform shoe is also available in Pig Suede/Sherpa Multi Color and Checkerboard Black/Classic White.

New Balance CT302

Here’s another classic for you! The New Balance CT302 is a unisex tennis shoe that follows the 1980s on-court model (CT300) but with a stacked-height midsole and an outsized take on the classic cup outsole design. It’s available in different colour styles — sea salt with shadow grey and team red, sea salt with dark juniper and cobalt, white with dark mercury and lilac chalk, and more — so you can pick one that matches your taste.

While New Balance has kicked out of the country earlier this April due to the expiration of their local importer and distributor contract, you can still order some of their shoes through sports shops like SUPERSPORTS or their official website (overseas shipping).

Jodd Fairs

Jodd Fairs Bangkok

Locals have deemed this night market the most accessible and convenient one. The Ratchada Train Market, which was known for its iconic colorful tents used to be the go-to place for locals and tourists but when the pandemic hit, businesses were forced to shut down. When Thailand re-opened its borders, the organizers relocated, revamped, and renamed the market Jodd Fairs.

Although the market has lost its colorful roofs; it got an upgrade in terms of quality. Most of the stalls in the previous Ratchada are still up and running, and a lot of new vendors have also joined the mix. The market has an eclectic mix of over 600 stalls selling a wide range of items from trendy fashion pieces to unique handicrafts.

More than a shopper’s paradise, you won’t ever go hungry in Bangkok’s night markets with the wide selection of food stalls and restaurants available. You can also enjoy a few drinks at the bars offering live music performances.

Location: Jodd Fairs, Rama IX Rd, Huai Khwang, Bangkok 10310

Open daily from 4 PM to 12 AM

Srinakarin Train Night Market

Rod's Antiques
Photo from Website/Rod's Antiques

This is Bangkok’s original and popular train night market run by the same organizers of Jodd Fairs. Remember we mentioned how the old Ratchada Train Market relocated after the pandemic? Well, Srinakarin has taken over it now and offers visitors a unique night market experience.

Although it’s farther from the city, it’s well worth the travel because it’s less crowded and has a more laid-back atmosphere compared to Jodd Fairs. Locals love to visit this sprawling market, so if you’re looking for a truly authentic Thai experience, it’s worth considering making the trip here.

The market welcomes you with an array of food stalls, but as you go deeper inside, you’ll find vendors selling a variety of goods from clothing and accessories to gadgets and souvenirs. One thing Srinakarin is famous for is its vintage section. The market is brimming with antiques and retro shops located in old buildings that take you back in time.

There are three sections: Rod’s Antiques, Warehouse Zone, and Market Zone. The first two zones are where you can find antique stores selling stuff like vintage cameras, classic cars, motorbikes, and even Japanese anime toys. Meanwhile, the Market Zone offers a more contemporary selection of apparel, toys, and other souvenir items.

Location: Srinakarin Train Night Market, 51 Srinagarindra Road, Nong Bon, Prawet, Bangkok 10250
