From kneading, throwing, and sculpting, learning pottery can help you improve focus while venturing into a creative experiment. HAMA Pottery Studio
Established by designer Crystal Cheung and ceramist Jonathan Law, HAMA Pottery Studio does pottery the traditional way: by using wheel throwing and the hands. The studio offers three pottery classes in Hong Kong, depending on what type of ceramic you want to create. The petite plate class costs HK$1,180 per person and lasts two hours. Each student is expected to create six petite plates after the session where basic clay handling techniques will be taught.

Useless Studio
Founded by three individuals who have a burning passion for pottery, Useless Studio teaches students how to create anything from clay: from plates and vases to ceramic animals and plant pots. Its beginner classes come in four or 12 sessions, with three hours each. Prices start at HK$1,600 per person, including all the materials and firing fees. Students are expected to produce two to four pieces of work throughout the sessions. You can also join classes that cater to specific types of ceramics, such as our favorite bowl and candle holder workshops. Contrary to its name, this pottery class in Hong Kong is not useless at all.

Lump Studio
If pottery isn’t new to you but you’d like to up your game in handling clay, Lump Studio’s membership packages are perfect. It has a 15-hour weekly package for HK$2,160 and a 10-hour package for HK$1,110. Lump Studio also conducts pottery classes in Hong Kong on Tuesdays and Thursdays (7 PM to 9:30 PM) where you can learn hand-building techniques.

Mudheytong Gallery
Mudheytong Gallery (pronounced as mud-hey-tong) was founded by three Hong Kong artists with a goal of teaching and showcasing ceramic arts. The trio wants to encourage artists to explore ceramics-making through workshops, residencies, and studio facilities, as well as engage the wider community by staging public events and local and international exhibits. Newbies can start with its two-hour trial workshop for HK$500 where they will learn basic hand-pinching or wheel throwing techniques.
