Hong Kong Asian Film Fest Previews Region's Cinema From Oct. 13-Nov. 12

The 20th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF) is set to dazzle cinephiles and enthusiasts alike. Organised by HKAFF Society in partnership with Broadway Cinematheque, this cinematic extravaganza will grace the screens from Oct. 13 to Nov. 12.

Promising a treasure trove of nearly 100 Asian films, the HKAFF 2023 lineup is diverse and captivating. In addition to the contributions of promising new directors in both local and Asian cinemas, the festival boasts award-winning filmmakers who have left their mark on the international film scene.

Among the highlights are Yasuke Sakaguchi's latest work, "The Innocence," the Japanese rendition of "The One Second of Him" for "The Lost Valentine's Day," Zeng Yingting's directorial debut "No Heart," Chen Che Yikang's "Burning Winter," Japanese director Yizumi's "Undercurrent," and the Venice Film Festival's "The Lion of the Future" winner.

This year, HKAFF has the privilege of hosting heavyweight overseas filmmakers and actors. Attendees can look forward to encounters with Song Kang-ho through a masterclass and the illustrious guide Iwai Shunji in a film workshop. A series of engaging activities and fan meetings will provide the opportunity to connect with these cinema luminaries.

The HKAFF is partnering with the Taiwan International Documentary Film Festival (TIDF) and highlights independent perspectives, creative spirit, and deep concern for humanity. The "Eye of Documentary" section offers viewers a series of documentaries that explore historical facts and truths from multiple angles, supporting the fearless and dedicated professionals in the documentary field.
