Raise Your Glass: Malaysian-Brewed Craft Beer Wins at World Beer Awards
Raise your glass for a celebratory toast! Malaysian craft brewery PaperKite Brewing Co. has brought home medals from the renowned World Beer Awards. In a fierce competition among brewers worldwide, PaperKite's iconic Copper Ale claimed a gold medal in the "Bitter 4.5 to 5.5%" category, while its Pale Ale secured a silver medal in the "Pale Ale" category.
Breweries submitted their beers to a panel of 60 judges from various countries, who conducted blind tastings and evaluated the entries based on flavour, aroma, appearance, and ABV (alcohol by volume). The awards ceremony took place in London on Aug. 3, where PaperKite Brewing Co. received well-deserved accolades alongside other winning breweries.
Expressing their gratitude, PaperKite Brewing Co. shared their heartfelt thanks on Instagram, stating, "We are humbled to be awarded Gold at the 2023 World Beer Awards!" With their Copper Ale now competing for the title of Best World Beers, the brewery is thrilled to advance to the next stage of the competition, where top-rated beers from different categories vie for the ultimate recognition.
Building on their success at the World Beer Awards and recent recognition from the Asia Beer Awards, PaperKite Brewing Co. has exciting plans. They will embark on a mini-celebration tour, beginning at the popular bar Backdoor Bodega in Penang on Aug. 27, with additional stops planned in Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.
