Cinephiles in Macau are in for a treat as the city is set to launch its first LGBTQ-themed film festival!

Screening from Feb. 3-12 at the Emperor Cinemas, the first Macao International Queer Film Festival (MIQFF) carries the theme “Let’s Get Beautiful Queen,” a look at some of the world’s iconic gay flicks.

Check out the MIQFF main lineup below:

  • “My Private Idaho” by Gus Van Sant
  • “The Blue Caftan” by Maryam Touzani
  • “Will-o’-the-Wisp“ by João Pedro Rodrigues
  • “Moneyboys” by C.B. Yi
  • “Girl Picture” by Alli Haapasalo

The film festival will also screen a yet-to-be-named movie that explores the relationship between a mother and a queer child.

The event organisers are calling on movie junkies to guess the title of the surprise film. Ten participants who answered correctly will win a special gift.

Ticketing details have yet to be announced. For more information regarding the upcoming festival, follow the MIQFF on Facebook.
