The closing of Jurong Bird Park early this year was bittersweet, as it saw the end of a beloved institution that has been around for more than 50 years. But this sadness was temporary, as the resident birds of Jurong Bird Park were only to be moved to the brand-new Bird Paradise of the Mandai Wildlife Group.

Visitors may see the more than 3,000 birds of the previous park and its carers as the Bird Paradise soft launches on May 8, according to a press release by the Mandai Wildlife Group yesterday, March 30.

The public may also check out the new Mandai Wildlife West, an "ungated public node" featuring dining and retail establishments, playgrounds, and public artworks. This area serves as the entrance to the Bird Paradise and the upcoming Rainforest Wild.

The Bird Paradise is home to some of the world's most threatened species, including Philippine Eagles, Negros Bleeding-heart Doves, Straw-headed Bulbuls, Black-winged Mynas, and Blue-throated Macaws, among others. It also houses the Socorro Dove, which is already extinct in the wild and is only alive because of the group's breeding efforts.

Guests may also visit the Avian Healthcare and Research Centre during their tour to learn about the institution's conservation breeding programmes. If you want to experience feeding the birds, you may do so for only S$8, which allows you to get up and close in feeding birds like Starlings, African Hornbills, and more. Proceeds from these feeding sessions will go to conservation efforts supported by the Mandai Wildlife Group.

The Bird Discovery Tour (10 AM-12 NN and 3:30 PM-5 PM) is priced at S$400 per group (up to eight) on weekdays and S$500 per group on weekends. The backstage pass to the Avian Healthcare and Research Centre (2 PM-3 PM), on the other hand, costs $118.40 per person on weekdays and S$148 per person on weekends.
