‘Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2023’ to Be Held on Feb. 4-6 at Hua Hin

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organise the “Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2023” from Feb. 4 to 6, 2023 at Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, according to a press release. The event aims to promote cultural tourism and Thailand’s soft-power foundations or the five Fs: food, film, fashion, fighting (Thai martial arts), and festivals.

“In addition to promoting Muay Thai as a national heritage and a world-famous element of Thai culture, the Amazing MuayThai Festival is also an opportunity to create economic value and generate income for Thailand through sports tourism,” TAT Tourism Products and Business Deputy Governor Apichai Chatchalermkit said.

The event coincides with National Muay Thai Day on Feb. 6, which commemorates the date His Majesty Somdej Phrasanphet (also known as Phra Chao Suea) ascended the throne. He’s known for his mastery of the combat sport, with his techniques still being taught today.

The event will feature a Wai Kru ceremony, a ritual that fighters perform before a match, where they attempt to set a new Guinness World Record with 5,000 participants. There will also be an exhibition, a local cuisine showcase, promotional activities, and merchandise sales.
