How Technology Is Shaping the Minds of Young Generation

Have you noticed any changes in today’s generation? Perhaps you did and wondered if technology has ever affected the way they perceived our world today or how they are learning to speak up or stand up for themselves.
Nevertheless, we are living in a world where everything is under scrutiny and you are forced to be the perfect model or suffer what is now called cyberbullying by a bunch of strangers. Maybe it is the social media effect, but the younger generation today is becoming more confident in voicing out their opinions.
Does Technology Shape the Mind of the Generation Today?
Yes, they do.
Stop. Look around you, each person is either on their mobile devices or in front of their tablets or laptop. Rarely we see individuals talking to each other without the disruption of technology. We even rely on technology to get the latest news and update.
Technology continues to advance along with new inventions, software, and applications, and the youth today have been adapting easily to these recent changes and utilizing them to promote freedom of speech. For them, it is considered as a tool to easily convey their messages or an outlet of their emotions.
Young generations today are prone to depression, anxiety, and need emotional assistance from time to time. Seeking help has always been perceived as a weakness, but technology allows them to get a helping hand.
We’ve seen how many individuals aren’t afraid to seek help, and how they help lift each other, support their situations, and encourage each other to speak up,
What Can Be the Negative Effects?
For some, technology has become a part of their lives 24/7, and the physical effect can range from vision problems to muscle pains. Psychologically, it affects our attention span, the expectation to have a high number of likes on social channels or instant gratification.
Loss of Sense of Being
The definition of themselves is based on how the world perceives them. It’s defined by the number of friends they have on Facebook, the number of likes and followers they have on Instagram, how many subscribers they have on YouTube, the result they get when searching their name on Google, and the list just go on and on.
They all want instant gratification; their patience is short and their ability to wait is slowly decreasing.

Social Skills
Technology is slowly decreasing the youth’s ability to interact with people outside of their devices. Yes, we all live in a digital world, but that doesn’t mean that we all must live inside that box to constantly communicate and build a relationship.
There’s also a decrease in family talk time, ask yourself when was the last time you talk to your kids or parents without a mobile phone in hand? We use text messaging or social messaging to relay messages, and there’s no emotional depth by doing that.

Privacy and Security
As technology continues to advance, the level of connectedness increases and it’s important to understand how capable technology is when it comes to privacy and security. Nowadays, what types of activities and websites do kids explore online? Are you able to monitor their activity and ensure they know the importance of keeping confidential information private?
Still, technology provides positive benefits. It’s fun, it provides extensive opportunities to learn new things, social networks have allowed us to reach out to our family and friends who are from other parts of the world, and more. However, we shouldn’t forget that there’s a real-world, and it’s still better to engage and build a relationship outside of technology.
