Hong Kong’s rich art space is set to welcome another fair this year, as Shanghai’s renowned ART021 Fair is holding its first edition in the city very soon, its organisers told the media.

Tentatively slated for a summer launch, ART021 Hong Kong will focus on art from the historic Silk Road and West and Central Asia regions, along with works from various small galleries. About 80 exhibitors will be featured at the invitation-only event, all of whom were carefully handpicked by the organisers.

David Chau, one of ART021’s founders, said in an interview that the fair also aims to expand to other territories in the future, including India, Pakistan, South America, and Africa.

As of the time of writing, the fair’s venue and opening date have not been unveiled. However, Chau shares that it will likely be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, which also hosts major art events in the city, including Art Basel.

Established in 2013, ART021 has been providing galleries, museums, art collectors, and art institutions with a platform to showcase their art and interact with fellow artists and art enthusiasts. This year, the fair will be held in its home ground, Shanghai, from Nov. 7 to 10.
