It’s nearly Christmas and you know what that means:Noche Buena preparations are underway! If you haven’t visited your local supermarket already, then we suggest you do so now. And fear not, we’ve taken care of your shopping list too!
Here are all the things you might possibly need for that special time of the year.
Pasta
What’s Noche Buena without pasta on the table? Traditional Filipino celebrations will often serve sweet spaghetti but if you’re looking to amp it up, consider different pasta shapes. There are plenty on the market that can go well with all kinds of sauces.
We suggest you stock up on various kinds of pasta like Barilla, where you’ll find different types such as macaroni (perfect for salad!), farfalle, lasagna, angel hair, penne, fusilli, and more.
You only need four ingredients to create this Rigatoni Creamy Genovese Pesto recipe: one box of Barilla Rigatoni, one jar of Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto, a half-cup of grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, and 10 sweet Italian basil leaves. The best part? You can cook this in under 30 minutes! For more recipes, check out their website.

You definitely need something to go with that pasta. Those looking for convenience can save the trouble of preparing their own by grabbing a pack or two of Purefoods’ ready-made spaghetti sauce. All you need to do is heat it up for a delicious – and convenient – Noche Buena.

Cheese Products
A pantry staple all year round, cheese is a versatile ingredient you can use in majority of your Noche Buena dishes. Queso de Bola is a popular cheese variant for the holidays, but for those who are unaccustomed to its firm texture and slightly nutty aroma, there’s always Eden. Familiar to all Filipinos, Eden is a no-fail on the dinner table. Top it off on spaghetti, ensaymada, or bibingka, add it to salads or sandwiches, or even eat it as a snack!
For Noche Buena, consider adding a cheesy twist to a classic dish: Lumpia Shanghai! One box of Eden (160 grams) will be enough to make ten servings of delicious pork lumpia. Simply add all the ingredients - including the cheese - into a piece of lumpia wrapper and you're good to go. See the full recipe here.

Needless to say, you’ll definitely need it for Christmas this year.

Sauces

Aside from pasta dishes, Filipinos also love to indulge in hearty viands. For a quick upgrade, turn to UFC’s Overload Sauces. These flavorful foodie must-haves come in three different flavors, all of which can be used for a variety of dishes. Its Meaty Overload variant combines cooked pork, beef, and hotdog into one and can be used as a Nacho topping or for Homemade Pizza Toast. Complementing that is the Creamy Overload sauce, which uses an all-purpose white sauce base to add flavor and creaminess to dishes such as Spinach Dip, Burger Steak, or Pasta Alfredo. Last but not least is one for the kids: Cheesy Overload! A lifesaver for moms, this particular variant is helpful as a topping for French Fries, Chicken, or even Baked Mussels. You can also use it for Mac and Cheese. Talk about an all-in-one!
The best part? Recipes using these sauces are bound to be easy and convenient. Take for example this rice cooker macaroni soup: toss in your vegetables, macaroni shells, and the UFC Creamy Overload sauce and press one button to create a healthy, hearty meal in less than 20 minutes.

Fruit Cocktail
Christmas is a time for something light and bright. For this, we suggest stocking up on fruit cocktail that you can eat as dessert, turn into a salad, or add as an ingredient to cake. Del Monte’s Fiesta Fruit Cocktail comes in a variety of sizes – from 385 grams up to 3 kilos – and features tropical favorites such as pineapple, papaya, nata de coco, and cherries. Refreshing and light, it’s the perfect way to end – or start – Noche Buena.
A Classic Fruit Salad recipe would be perfect for the holidays. Using only three ingredients (including one can of fruit cocktail, three cups of all-purpose cream, and one cup of condensed milk), home chefs in a rush can create a sweet and flavorful dessert that's both beloved and nostalgic with this recipe!
