Delish Eats: Mansion Sports Bar & Lounge Spices Up Makati's Bar Scene
September 21, 2023
Restaurant story: Mansion Sports Bar opened its doors in December 2022 at Legazpi Village in the bustling city of Makati. The bar brands itself as a premium and high-end bar that aims to be the go-to place for sports enthusiasts in the city. Mansion is a place where people can experience luxurious dining while enjoying food that will make them feel at home.
What’s the vibe and venue like: Along Palanca Street, Mansion stands out from its neighboring establishments because of the red stairs leading to the front door. Inside, the dimly lit bar proves to be an intimate hangout place for those who enjoy a not-so-noisy nightlife, which can also be a venue for vibrant rave parties.
As we roamed around the place, we found out that it houses three different spaces inside: the M Bar, where you can enjoy their unique cocktails and play pool, darts, and more with your friends; M Dining, where you can indulge in their scrumptious food; and M Lounge, where you can hold momentous events. To complete the experience, they also have DJs from Monday to Saturday nights and singers to serenade guests during chill Sunday evenings.
How much does it cost: For a high-end bar, we can say that their food and drinks will give you a bang for your buck! The snacks, desserts, and appetizers go for around P300, while the loaves and main course items cost about P500 to P1,000. Their cocktails, on the other hand, range from P300 to P950. All menu items are subject to a 10% service charge.
What is the menu about: The menu mainly consists of classic and modern American dishes made with contemporary flavors in mind. They also offer comfort food inspired by fare from various parts of the world, which you can pair with their premium beers and specially curated spirits.
What did we order: We ordered some items off their new menu, such as the Punjabi Poutine, Shiitake Mushroom Quesadilla, Spicy Korean Wings, Spicy Cheese Ramen, Tofu Banh Mi, Glazed Salmon Bowl, Hot Chicken Loaves, and Coconut Panna Cotta. For drinks, we ordered their new sports-inspired cocktails: Black Mamba, Golden Lift, Grand Chelem, Ground and Pound, and His Airness.

Punjabi Poutine: We started with the Punjabi Poutine for an appetizer. Topped with onions, chili, and spices, the dish looks and tastes spicy right off the bat. Thankfully, there’s cheese and mayo drizzled on it to balance out the flavor that will keep you munching away.

Shiitake Mushroom Quesadilla: What makes this quesadilla unique is its vegan filling. As its name suggests, it is stuffed with shiitake mushrooms that leave a smoky aftertaste, paired with tortillas that have just the right level of crispiness. But what made us want more was the creamy chipotle sauce, which gives the dish a hint of sweetness when you dip the quesadilla.

Spicy Korean Wings: Staying true to the menu’s spicy theme, this new flavor for Mansion’s fried chicken wings truly left our mouths hot. The sweet sauce on the side and its tangy hints, however, neutralized the spiciness, so it’s a bit more tolerable. We also loved how its coating was still crunchy despite being doused in the marinade. However, it may have lacked the “Korean taste” we were looking for.

Spicy Cheese Ramen: This one, at least for us, was a solid ten out of ten! Despite being the simplest dish on the table, this comfort food stood out because of its cheesiness. It’s easy to assume that it would be spicy, but the cheese balanced everything out, coupled with the soft and chewy noodles and crunchy Cheetos bits. It really made us feel at home!

Tofu Banh Mi: As tofu lovers, we found this dish a good bite as well. The steamed bao bun was soft and warm, while the tofu had a smoky smack to it. What made it more enjoyable was the sweet and garlicky Sriracha sauce, paired with the crunch of peanuts.

Glazed Salmon Bowl: If you’re looking for a hearty meal, this Glazed Salmon Bowl is a must-try. Complete with cauliflower rice, a piece of melt-in-your-mouth salmon, crispy Bok choy, and refreshing mango bits, this dish is a perfect meal after a long and tiring day. Not only is it savory, but it is healthy as well.

Coconut Panna Cotta: The Coconut Panna Cotta is a medley of flavors, composed of soft and buttery toast, sweet and tangy calamansi curd, blueberry, strawberry, and mango bits. The panna cotta also has just the right level of gooeyness. However, as people who love desserts, we felt like the garnish was a bit out of place because of its bitter taste.
Black Mamba: Moving on to cocktails, we ordered some of the bar’s newest creations, all of which are inspired by icons in the world of sports. We were off to a great start with Black Mamba, a vodka-based cocktail that’s named after basketball legend Kobe Bryant. One of our most recommended cocktails, it is mixed with Kahlua, fernet branca, and black sesame syrup. The Black Mamba has the bittersweet notes of coffee and a creamy texture that many of us love.
Ground and Pound: If you’re looking for something smooth and thirst-quenching, we recommend this cocktail from Mansion. It has just the right kick from the tequila and vermouth, but what makes this a refreshing bevvy is its minty and honey-sweet flavors. Fun fact: this cocktail is a tribute to UFC Champion Jon Jones, hence the name Ground and Pound!
Golden Lift: This green-hued cocktail honors our very own weightlifting champ, Hidilyn Diaz. We loved how this drink’s presentation reminded us of the sport with its barbell-like topper. It is a strong cocktail, much like the woman behind the drink, and it has a herby hint to it.
What we liked: We loved how Mansion was a sports bar to the core, with flashy LED screens around the area playing iconic sports events, cocktails that are inspired by renowned athletes, and play areas that we could enjoy with our companions. Their food also gave a variety of flavors and at the same time left our taste buds hot and hungry for more.
What we didn’t like: Overall, the food and drinks we tried were savory and refreshing, but based on personal preferences, the Golden Lift cocktail was just a bit too bitter for our taste.
What you should order: Spicy Cheese Ramen, Glazed Salmon Bowl, Tofu Banh Mi, Shiitake Mushroom Quesadilla, Black Mamba, and Ground and Pound.
