Condo Overview
Size: 24 square meters
Interior designer: Idr. Rolando Batingan Jr. (RCB Interiors)
Principal designer and design supervision: Idr. Angelo Aguilar, PIID (ACGA Designs | [email protected])
Style: Modern-Tropical
Location: Fame Residences, Mandaluyong City
The owner of this condo unit in Mandaluyong City has been living in Singapore for 14 years. She wanted the unit to serve two purposes: a place she could rent out on Airbnb when she is not in the Philippines and a comfortable space she could stay in whenever she and her family came home.
To transform the unit into an inviting space the owner and her future guests will love, interior designers Angelo Aguilar and Rolando Batingan made sure every inch is maximized, with enough storage options to prevent clutter.
Even though the unit is compact, they chose furniture pieces that will elevate its modern tropical theme and add a touch of glam. They also followed the owner’s request of incorporating touches of gray, beige, wood, and Aegean teal into the calming color scheme.
Kitchen
To save on costs, the designers enhanced the look of the existing cooking area and made it more functional. Aside from installing wire baskets for cutlery storage, they also used a bronze mirror as a backsplash. The kitchen area was also extended to create a mini bar where the mini refrigerator, microwave, and coffee machine are placed.
Living Area
Since the unit is narrow, the designers created an illusion of space by installing a wall mirror panel. A sofa bed that can accommodate extra guests is paired with a compact side table that doesn’t take up too much space.
The owner wanted to ensure the unit was well-lit and requested a cove light ceiling, which the designers delivered. Facing the sofa bed is a customized TV cabinet, with a half-round reeded panel sprucing up the column.
Dining Area
Highlighting the wall from the living area to the dining nook is a laminated wall panel with aluminum recessed lights. To furnish the space, the designers paired a table with a stainless-steel metal frame and a tempered glass top with two upholstered chairs and a round ottoman with storage.
Work Area
A mini desk and a comfortable office chair complete the owner’s requested work area. A half-round reeded panel defines the space.
Bedroom
To maximize the available bedroom space, the designers furnished the room with a customized platform bed with a padded headboard and a pull-out drawer. They were also able to incorporate a full-height wardrobe cabinet, which has an open side that functions as a side table.
Bathroom
The bathroom has enough room for a glass shower enclosure. To improve the space, the designers added a storage cabinet with a granite countertop, glass shelves, and a round wall mirror with tricolor lighting.
From the designer:
Thinking of renting out your condo unit in the future? Hosting isn’t just about providing accommodation for guests; you also need to ensure their stay will be comfortable. Aside from providing basic needs like comfy beds, crisp beddings, and useful appliances, you can also stock up on essentials that will make their time in your space memorable.
