Watch These Five LGBTQIA+ Films for Free from March 13-24
Cinephiles are in for a treat with the launch of the world’s widest-reaching LGBTQIA+ digital campaign, “Five Films for Freedom,” organized by the British Council in partnership with BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival.
From March 13-24, Filipinos will get a chance to dive into the colorful world of LGBTQIA+ cinema with a screening of five films from in and out of the country. For its 10th iteration, “Five Films for Freedom” will showcase stories of “strength and spirit.”
This year’s selection includes the American short film “Compton’s 22,” “The First Kiss” from Spain, India’s “Halfway,” the United Kingdom’s “Cursive,” and the Philippines’ very own “Little One.” These films touch on themes like identity, family, love, and acceptance, among others.
“It is a privilege to showcase the exceptional work of these immensely talented filmmakers to audiences worldwide, and we are truly proud to have a Filipino film included in this year's selection,” British Council in the Philippines’ country director Lotus Postrado said in a press statement.
You can watch these films via the British Council Arts’ YouTube channel for free on the said dates. To learn more about “Five Films for Freedom,” visit the British Council’s website or check out the trailers here.
Launched in 2014, “Five Films for Freedom” has been screening LGBTQIA+ films online to uplift the community and advocate love and freedom for all.
