Through the Storm: Arthur Nery Warms Hearts at His Second Solo Concert

Following the catastrophe left by tropical storm Kristine, R&B and soul sensation Arthur Nery gave BINHIs a night to remember with his second solo concert, held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City last Oct. 25.
The show, which turned into a concert-for-a-cause for those affected by the storm, showcased Nery’s hit tracks and latest releases and featured some of today’s up-and-coming names in the OPM scene.
In case you missed it, The Beat Manila gives you a breakdown of what went down during Arthur Nery’s successful return to the Araneta stage.
A Celebration of OPM
The night kicked off with a set by singer-songwriter Amiel Sol, who heated up the cold night with songs “Soup” and “Ikaw Lang Patutunguhan.” This was followed by Marielle Belleza, who charmed the Araneta crowd with her crystal-clear voice, singing a cover of Imago’s “Akap” and her self-written song “Baka Naman.”

The concert also saw collaboration stages with several OPM artists, including Joliane, Jon Mejia, and KIYO, who also participated in Nery’s second studio album, “II: The Second.” Rising singer and media personality Atasha Muhlach also graced the stage, performing a duet with Nery of the OPM classic “Ako’y Sa’yo.”
Beloved singer-songwriter Janine Teñoso also joined Nery with a live performance of their duet track “Pelikula,” followed by an acoustic version of Teñoso’s “Hulaan.”

From Soulful Tunes to Heartfelt Melodies
More than a showcase of Arthur Nery’s soulful vocals and alluring charms, the concert also treated fans to a spectacular journey to Nery’s diverse music.
Anticipation builds as the singer-songwriter takes his first stage at the concert with the song “Segundo, Siguro,” followed by his jazzy R&B hits “Cotton Candy” and “Get Going” featuring Jon and Miguel Mejia, as well as fan-favorite tracks like “Higa,” “Binhi,” and “Isa Lang.”

The show likewise offered live performances of Nery’s latest tracks from his recent album, including groovy R&B songs “Na Naman” and “I Gotchu,” acoustic-infused track “Lullaby” featuring Jolianne, and “’Di Nakakasawa” featuring Kiyo.
Giving the audiences a little bit of an extra treat, the singer also performed covers of Josh Turner’s “Your Man,” plus iconic Filipino ballad songs “Ipagpatawad Mo” by VST & Company and Rey Valera’s “Maging Sino Ka Man.”
The stellar OPM act closed the show with a magical orchestra-backed version of his hit song “Pagsamo” and his beloved track “Take All the Love,” to which fans sang along.
Concert for a Cause
If his music was not enough to warm the crowd’s hearts, Arthur Nery, in cooperation with his record label Viva, also took the initiative to make the show a concert for a cause to help those who were devastated by tropical storm Kristine.
In addition to a percentage of the profit that will be donated to the victims, the show’s organizers and non-profit organization Caritas Manila also placed donation boxes around the venue for in-kind contributions.
The singer also announced that he will be having an online sale of his pre-loved clothes. Proceeds from the sale will likewise be donated to those affected by the storm.
Sending his love and sympathy, Nery said during the concert, “Nagpapasalamat po ako sa inyong lahat na pumunta ngayong gabi. Alam ko pong marami po tayong mga kababayan na nasalanta (ng bagyo), and itong performance na ito and lahat ng cheers natin ngayong gabi ay para sa kanila [at] sa lahat ng mga hindi nakadalo (I am thankful to all of you who came here tonight. I know that we have a lot of fellow countrymen who were devastated by the typhoon, and this performance and all our cheers tonight are for them and those who were not able to attend).”

Typhoon Kristine left a cold and cruel aftermath in its wake, but Arthur Nery’s concert left a glimmer of hope and warmed hearts not only with his music and love for his fans, but with his compassion for the fatal storm’s victims.
Arthur Nery’s second solo concert is brought by Viva Records and VAA Live.
