January Events in Singapore to Get You Started on a More Compassionate Path This 2022

While things may seem like they are slowly starting to look up, the threat of the Omicron variant sure has dispelled some of the initial plans we had already started to build for the coming year. As we find ourselves still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe that radical compassion, which applies to the self and others, is the only way to go this 2022.
Resolve to be kinder to yourself this new year and check out these wellness and educational events happening in January 2022 to help you get started on this more compassionate path.
Yoga for a Change at Marina Bay – Every Wednesday

Want to feel relaxed and recharged and contribute to a worthy cause at the same time? Check out Yoga for a Change, a charity yoga class happening every Wednesday from 7-8 PM at Marina Bay's Singapore River Cruise Terminal. This ticketed yoga class, headed by Marian Dang, donates 100% of its proceeds to its charity of choice LOVE, NILS, a Singapore-registered non-profit that supports children with cancer and their caregivers.
Yoga for a Change will begin its first class for 2022 on Jan. 5, with tickets priced at only S$17.84.
Therapeutic Forest Walk at Learning Forest – Jan. 8
Want to take part in a therapeutic forest walk? The Brahm Centre is offering exactly that on Jan. 8. The therapeutic forest walk is a "mindfulness-based walking experience" through the Singapore Botanic Gardens' Learning Forest. The walk will begin at 5:30 PM and will take around 30-40 minutes to complete, starting with a warmup and a primer on mindful walking, then capped off with a discussion about the experience. A regular ticket for one will cost you S$20.
Watercolour Florals & Brush Lettering Course – Jan. 6

Unleash the creative in you with this watercolour and brush lettering course also offered by the Brahm Centre. In this course, you'll be guided on how to create different cards such as postcards, greeting cards, and bookmarks using watercolour and lettering techniques. The 8-session course, which will run from Jan. 6 to March 3, costs S$280.
To Spin Our Own Yarns / To Weave Our Own Stories Workshops – Jan. 9, 16, 23, and 30
Next up are these fibre art workshops by Paperwork Singapore, which will be held on Jan. 9, 16, 23, and 30. Participants will be able to co-create beautiful woven tapestries in these workshops, which will be exhibited at the Paperwork hallway at the end of month. This is the perfect experience if you want to try your hand in something new and meditative, as participants will get to learn about the artistic process of yarn spinning and how to freestyle weave on a Saori floor loom.
Paperwork will only accept 10 attendees per workshop, all of whom must be fully vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated, you must be able to provide a negative Antigen Rapid Test (ART) on the day of the workshop. Tickets to the workshops only cost S$6.20 each.
Veganuary 2022 Launch Event: Film Screening and Panel Session

Practice radical compassion for the animals and the environment and attend the Veganuary 2022 launch event on Jan. 6 at The Project along Beach Road. This event will kick off with a film screening of Marc Pierschel's "The End of Meat," followed by a special panel session exploring the possibilities of a future without meat and Singapore's budding alternative meat industry. Complimentary food and drinks will be served in the launch event, such as plant-based coffee and water lily pop snacks courtesy of MAD Food and canapes from Top Tier Food.
