Singapore’s Only Vesak Festival to Feature Rare Giant Thangka this May

Step into the light and celebrate one of the most significant holidays in Buddhism in Singapore this May!
Our Joyous Vesak 2025 is a three-day celebration happening from May 10 to 12 at the Open Field beside NEX Mall. Organized by Thekchen Choling, a local Buddhist temple known for its inclusive approach, this annual celebration offers a refreshing twist on traditional Vesak festivities, blending sacred rituals with joyful experiences for everyone to enjoy.
Thekchen Choling’s Vesak celebrations began in 2001 at its Bukit Timah location with smaller-scale prayers and simple setups, which eventually expanded to a full-fledged community celebration through the years. Today, the festival is attended by thousands of visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and faiths — all eager to participate in a shared experience of light, love, and joy.

“Vesak is a celebration of awakening — and joy, love, and compassion are universal values we all share. As such, we welcome everyone to experience the light of Vesak with us in a space where all are welcome and included,” said Vincent Kessler, Chairman of Thekchen Choling's Vesak Day Committee.
If you’re looking to spend a meaningful weekend outdoors with family, friends, and even your fur babies, look no further. This year, the Buddhist temple has prepared an exciting lineup of events and activities across the three days that you can take part in for FREE, including the unveiling of the Giant Wish-Fulfilling Thangka, an art piece rarely seen in Singapore, and the chance to walk around a 16-foot-tall Bodhgaya Stupa replica.
