HBO's 'House of the Dragon' Renewed for 3rd Season Ahead of S2 Release
Cheers, HOTD fans! Ahead of the release of its second season on June 16, streaming platform HBO has announced the renewal of its popular TV series “House of the Dragon” for a third season.
In a press release, Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, said that the series was renewed due to the “new heights” its second season has achieved so far, including earning rave reviews from critics.
“We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale that is only rivaled by its heart. We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three,” said Orsi.
There are no further details yet on what will happen on season three, as fans are eagerly waiting for what will unfold in the second installment. However, main cast members Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and more are expected to reprise their roles.
“House of the Dragon” is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” which centers around the story of House Targaryen, set 200 years before the happenings on the hit TV series “Game of Thrones.”
The TV series has also gained several accolades from its first season, including the Best Television Series – Drama at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards and the Best Fantasy Television Series at the 2024 Saturn Awards.
While waiting for seasons two and three, watch “House of the Dragon” via HBO GO (Asia), HBO, or Max.
