Visit Chao Phraya Sky Park, Thailand’s First Elevated Garden
Offering a 360-degree view of Bangkok’s old town and modern city centre is Thailand’s first elevated garden, the Chao Phraya Sky Park.
Built in 2020 by architect Chakdao Navacharoen, the Department of City Planning and Urban Development, LANDPROCESS, and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the sky park is one of Thailand’s efforts to increase the number of green spaces in densely populated urban areas across the kingdom.
“Amidst the pandemic, the [BMA] opened its remarkable public space, the Chao Phraya Sky Park. Left abandoned for almost 40 years, the halted infrastructure project has now been given a second life as the newest Bangkok landmark, the nation's first pedestrian bridge park across a river,” the developers said.
Adorned with colourful flowers and lush green plants, the Chao Phraya Sky Park provides a picturesque backdrop for capturing stunning images with family and friends. It has three viewpoints, namely Lan Tawan Ron, Lan Arung Rung, and Chai Chao Phraya, where Bangkokians can stay until dusk to witness the captivating sunset.
The elevated park serves as a great connector between the two sides of Bangkok, allowing motorists and cyclists to traverse from one place to another while taking in the jaw-dropping view of the city. In terms of safety, it was designed with universal accessibility in mind, so tourists of all ages, shapes, and physical conditions may conveniently explore the park in its full glory.
The Chao Phraya Sky Park is open every day from 5 AM-8 PM. To get to the park, visitors may take a bus from under the King Rama I Bridge via routes 3, 7N, 9, 42, 8, 73, and 82.
