Japanese Izakaya Chain Torikizoku Takes Flight: Expanding to Hong Kong
Torikizoku Holdings has unveiled plans to take its popular yakitori chain restaurant global, with upcoming expansions into Hong Kong and Taiwan.
This announcement marks a significant milestone for the brand, which has become synonymous with Japan's vibrant izakaya (traditional style drinking restaurants) culture. Founded in Osaka in the mid-1980s, Torikizoku has grown exponentially, now boasting over 600 stores across Japan, both directly operated and franchised.
The chain is renowned for its bright yellow signage and an enticing menu that features a variety of dishes. Offering an authentic izakaya experience that revolves around delicious, grilled chicken skewers and a selection of sides that includes marinated vegetables, salad, and french fries. However, it's the affordable chicken skewers, priced uniformly at ¥328 (HK$17.14), and cold beer that have cemented Torikizoku's status as a go-to spot for authentic Japanese yakitori.
Torikizoku's expansion strategy underscores a growing trend of Japanese culinary brands extending their reach internationally, tapping into the global appetite for Japanese cuisine and dining styles.
