ICYMI: 6 Hong Kong Restaurants Make It to ‘Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2022’

More than 300 culinary experts, including food writers and critics, chefs and restaurateurs, and well-travelled gourmets, banded together for the annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022, one of the most distinguished awarding ceremonies in the global culinary landscape. The ceremony was simultaneously aired live at Pullman Hotel in Bangkok, Wynn Macau in Macau, and The Palace Hotel in Tokyo last March 29.
The culinary experts made up the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, representing six voting regions in Asia: India and Subcontinent; South-East Asia – South; South-East Asia – North; Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau; mainland China and Korea; and Japan.
For the voting process, each panelist voted for a total of 10 restaurants in Asia, up to six of which can be from their home country. Each voter must have visited the restaurants at least once in the last 18 months. The voters’ identities remained anonymous and confidential, and the process was solely adjudicated by Deloitte.
Here are the six restaurants in Hong Kong that made it to this year’s list of Asia’s Best Restaurants:
The Chairman
The Chairman serves the “freshest” Cantonese cuisine among diners in Hong Kong, earning the fifth spot in the ranking. Last year, the restaurant took home the top spot as the best restaurant in Asia and in Hong Kong.
Want to know their secret? The Chairman sticks to the traditional cooking style and sources their ingredients from local fishermen and condiment stores at the Aberdeen Fish Market.
Some of their best-selling and mouthwatering recipes are razor clams steamed with aged lemon and mixed herbs, smoked baby pigeon with Longjing tea and chrysanthemum, wild clams stir-fried with chilli jam and basil, and The Chairman soy sauce chicken.
